If you turn the engine around to make it fit, you have different manifolds and exhaust routing.. then it doesn't sound similar even "if" architecture is the same.

This is what I was going to say... different exhaust system is required for the 982 platform.

Absolutely, the large center tunnel diffuser requires the saddle geometry exhaust.

992 gets traditional center mount so keeps more of the flat 6 wail even with GPF.

Either way, it seems pretty clear to me that it isn't revving to 9000RPM. It sounds like a GT3 that's being short shifted.

Thanks! That does sound better and more angry than my GT4 did stock and more revs as well. It may still have a non merged exhaust which would make it sound less like a GT3 even with the same engine. Sounds like at least 8500 RPM to me.

One thing I've learned (vicariously through my friends who have a lot more money than I do).... stick to the Porsche formula. They can take a beating, they can be driven to 100k miles without much more than oil changes.
Thats not my personal experience. Never had a problem with my 720S - had plenty of problems with Porsches (all fixed in the warranty period) ranging from failed belt tensioners, water pumps through to the roof liner falling off. Moreover, I have a litany of small niggles with my 991.2 GT3 RS including the drive shafts starting to come lose and the front bumper/facia colour paint not matching the fenders or the frunk lid. I think its fair to say that Mclaren had plenty of gremlins with their earlier models but not the later models (usually small electrical stuff). Whereas Porsche have had major problems e.g. the 991.1 GT3 engines and more recently in regard to the 718 engine. Likewise modern Ferraris e.g. 458 onward are very reliable. My personal view is, as Porsche has grown its QAQC has slipped.

Equally, its probably not fair to compare a Mclaren 600LT with a 718 GT4 or GT4 RS as they are at different price points - but equally it does shine a light on what is possible in terms of design and engineering whilst still delivering a visceral and enjoyable driving experience. At the end of the day, historically, Porsche has set a high bar for their RS models - they are unique and perform at very high levels on release - the question is, will the 4RS slide under the bar or hurdle it with ease.

You can cover a lot of sin with flashy aero and Cup2R rubber.

I gotta say, that does not sound like the GT4 motor to me. That sounds a lot more like the GT3 motor. This may really be something special.

Do they reveal prices when unveiling a car? And do sales start shortly after? Or does that come at a later date?

You are all assuming its the GT4 RS when there is another car scheduled to be announced in Nov that has fallen off everybody's radar.
