A lot of people got cars near the end when extra allocations kept popping up, and there were also a fair number of dealer spec cars out there to be had. And there's a ton of low mile .2 GT3s out there for sale right now (123 on AT alone today).
Agreed you can get one of anything. GT2RS, Speedster, whatever....they are on dealer lots and BaT etc.

I'm speaking of allocations, these are not one for all. Not speaking about paying for landed cars (previously registered, used or not)

I am curious to see prices of GT3s in a couple months as winter winds down, plenty sitting around here with inflated prices. Will they stay there hoping to catch buyers looking for a summer toy or will they have to drop to sell before 992 is announced in the Fall.

Porsche is doing as I expected; Produce more cars every generation so that drivers get them and not just enthusiasts. Also, it will dilute and do away with ADM as long as people remain patient, keeping the mark up to themselves as they should have been doing.
Hell, they are putting the same engine into the GTS so that it leaves more Gt4s for those who plan on using it as intended.

I’m sixth on the list. I was told I should be ok getting a Spyder but probably early next year.

In limited numbers, less than 325 units IIRC, you can make new old cars, but I think the difference is that the vehicle produced in 2020, even if it is based on a (for example) a 1960 Cobra or old XK-E will be registered under the year it was built. These cars are more "like" reproductions.

With this kind of allocation rate the production numbers for GT4/SPYDER may well be quite low!

My understanding is that a 1965 Cobra produced today is titled as a 1965 Cobra. Note the last line: https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/F...nuation/648015

New to Rennlist. Been lurking for a few months....

I have a June build for August delivery on a Spyder. Need to lock the build in April. California, NO ADM! Can't wait to join the club!! My dad had a 912 he picked up from the factory in Germany in 1965 so it's in my blood.

I dunno, if he's sixth on the list in a U.S. dealership and he's going to get a car, that doesn't seem low to me. There are what, 300 Porsche dealerships in the U.S.? Even if there were only half that many Spyders sold by the average dealership, that would be 900 cars in the U.S. alone. Weren't there only 800 981 Spyders produced in total?

I'd say the opposite. If his dealership is going to get at least six Spyders, I'd conclude that this run will be bigger than the 981.

Unless it was built using an original VIN from a 65, the 1965 is part of the model name, not the model year.

That’s a great point. I’ll ask my SA the next time we talk as to what their 981 Spyder and GT4 allocations were.

It appears at least all the relatively new CSX4000 series Shelby continuation Cobras are titled as 1965s. But back to Porsches...

But he said it was going to be next year! IIRC there were more than 800 Spyder's produced?

You have to wonder, otherwise somebody could build old cars new and sell them as classics?

The USA gets lots more allocations than Canada. Probably 10 times as a guess. Living in a city of over 6 million people with lots of high end cars and I have only seen 1 Spyder in the wild in 3 years - this is not counting track days or car shows - just randomly driving. And I always have an eye out for sports cars. They are rare up here - as far as Porsches go - I do see lots of Boxsters and 911 though.

Sure, I would believe that the US gets more allocations, I heard somewhere that Canada received less than 40 981 Spyder's.
