IIRC, it was about 850 in North America. I bet they deliver about the same number of 718 Spyders in NA this time around. There is absolutely no reason why they would make less than the 981, with a car that is now well known to be epic and even more so with the GT treatment. And it's not like they need the production line for making all those 4 cylinder 718s or any GT3s. Honestly, given the fact that no GT3s are being produced right now and the regular 718s are selling like cold cakes, I would think Porsche could be churning out GT4s and Spyders by the truckload. Is the 992 killing it?

992 base price was fairly close to my Spyder build - but no matter how iconic just could buy a 911 because of looks (completely subjective) - despite my SA best efforts. But I think that you may be correct. 992 is supposed to be best one yet. It is hard to fathom but they keep making them better.

Doesn't matter how good the car is, the 992 is an ugly beast IMO. Could never own one. The fact that its a ridiculous $145k specced the way I'd want it just makes it easier to pass on it.

All subjective... the 992 is selling really well. My dealer is getting sold deliveries and allocations on the regular basis. The 718 on the other hand is another story. They are lucky if they sell 2 a month. 992 is doing so well they moved 718 production out of Zuffenhausen to accommodate the demand.

Production move is also the supposed reason we are not seeing PTS for the 718. Is it permanent? Who knows.

AFAIK, 'regular' 718 production was moved to Osnabruck but GT4/Spyder's are still built in Zuffenhausen.

I believe Zuffenhausen is accurate for GT4/Spyder production. My car is due to exit factory and enter the factory compound in Kornwestheim the same day. Kornwestheim is adjacent to Zuffenhausen and Porsche facilities.

I don't really think that this is the case, I think they will build what they have orders for, this has nothing to do with how good the car is but rather not to flood the market with unspoken for inventory, AP said they will build n-1.

IMHO it is better optics to have a car be desirable and then make just enough to satisfy demand as opposed to having unsold stock sitting in showrooms, Porsche knows to build what the customer will buy at MSRP, they don't like to play in the discount game to clear end year models...

Agree and their residuals on leased vehicles suck with high interest rates. Currently leasing a Cayenne. Designed to have a car return to the dealer undervalued so it can be marked up with healthy profits for the used lot.

We're saying the same thing. Porsche is going to build one for everyone that wants one. There is no reason not to with these cars, unless they have capacity constraints, which I can't imagine they have right now. Through November 2019, every single Porsche car category was down YTD compared to 2018 in the U.S., with the 718 down the most, over 25 percent and getting worse. If there is demand for the GT4 and Spyder, I can't imagine the rationale for not churning a car out to satisfy every single person who wants one and I just don't buy that Porsche is going to limit these cars and leave potential buyers hanging.

FWIW 981 GT4's were built in Osnabruck and there was a PTS window for them albeit very short in typical Porsche fashion. If you are going to charge 13k for color, supply must be low and demand must be high. I don't think any of this is capability or cost based. It is purely marketing and economics based...

Is that correct?

I see 8% growth YOY overall in the USA for 2019. Doubt growth happened in December alone. - https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2020...ent-19705.html

I know you're not talking Canada, but Canada had a record year for deliveries in 2019.

I just checked data through November and he is right - regarding the cars. Kinda surprising. Porsche's press release is a bit misleading. It is being masked by the 87% increase in Cayenne sales.

Missed the delineation between car and SUV. Where did you pull that table? PCA?

I'd be curious as to why Porsche thinks that is, people moving to SUVs is a trend but these seem like big swings for that to be the only reason.
