They are cracking down on flippers in one respect, just not the one that everyone thinks they should. It's not the guy who runs one of those shady high end car lots that buys every GT car allocation he can get and sells it to someone local 3 minutes later that they care about. They are cracking down on the guy who buys a cayenne and ships it overseas to another market where they are charging double for it. Porsche,Landrover, mercedes, maybe bmw are making a killing of certain markets and they don't want their profits affected there by grey market importers.

I shared the video of AP speaking to that comment and you responded to say that in the video he doesn't even come close to commenting on the demand situation. (clearly you didn't watch the video.) So I took the liberty of providing you the quotes to demonstrate that he did in fact touch on the topic.

It's not a matter of what I want to hear or not as he discussed it. It may be more for you as to what you want to hear but I didn't allude to his statement being fact. I only pointed it out to answer your question/statement about where everyone was getting this notion that PAG will build enough GT4/Spyder to satisfy demand.

As I mentioned in my previous response, whether or not PAG follows through with this is anybody's guess unless you're directly involved in making that decision. For all we know, to take you example as mentioned above, PAG may have had every single intention and gave such orders to make every single GT car as a PDK but maybe when they introduced the previous GT3 in PDK only and the world lost their mind, they may have, just maybe changed their mind....and not told you.

An article just came out saying how shocked they were that 70% of buyers actually took up the manual. Shocking in a world where every single car buying trend shown with actual purchasing data that people are buying auto/PDK/DCT more and more in overwhelming numbers to where many manufacturers are completely abandoning the manual transmission.

I appreciate your comment and your banter but with all due respect I completely disagree with your conclusions.
halfmonkey,

I have watched and listened Very-very closely to what that Porsche rep said multiple times on that video.
I totally agree with you !!!

Now, if Porsche can do as they wished with GT4/Spyder production "Increased" versus what took place with those back in 2016 I'm sure we all will know that later.

Terry

Thanks, but what do you mean by "...will be available"? You said 2022 slots will be available - when? Does the one for 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 apply to the Spyder as well?

I think it is more likely dealers playing their games. They better wisen up soon, as soon as the C8 Z06 is released, the GT4 will have more competition.
I don't recall Porsche ever saying they'd meet demand...and they'd be short sited to devalue the brand and car like that. The Z06 won't have much impact, just like the C8 Z06 isn't stopping people from spending 150-180K on C2S/C4S coupes. People who want 911s or GT4s, by and large, are not considering the Z06 or Corvette in general.

I was told by my GM that Porsche has announced that we WILL have these build slots available to us. I do not have them in my system yet however we are calling our clients to take action early by getting on the waiting list for when we do get them. In this day and age there is almost no way to get an allocation to build a specific model without getting yourself on some kind of list. PM me if you like.

People are reading way too much into AP’s comments of a few years ago. “...try to better meet enthusiast demand..” I believe has been met, this site is evidence of that many first time Porsche owners. If you wanted one you got one.

If you want to take his words literally, then there is no 2022 MY as he said 2019, 2020, and maybe 2021.

From my experience, it appeared to be much easier to get an allocation this time around. In regards to my SA, the only time I had to put a deposit was when there was a commission number attached to the allocation. First time future Porsche owner here

I agree with this. I tried to get a 2016 GT4 from the moment I learned the car existed. But it was basically impossible to get an allocation unless you were a long time Porsche customer and/or wanted to pay $10,000+ over sticker.

Honestly, I'm somewhat glad that the 2016 GT4 allocation situation was such a mess because, as someone who has never tried to buy a Porsche before that, the 2016 GT4 experience taught me a lot about Porsche allocation process and dealer behaviors that benefitted me in getting a 2020 GT4 allocation. The downside for me was that I had to wait 4 years and the base price of the car went up ~12%. But in the 718 GT4 I feel like I got a better car overall because it has standard features and options not available on the 2016 and all of the little improvements really do add up.

How about new allocation spots for Spyders and GT4's?? I'm on the fence to delay a bit at this point and wait for a 2022, or go ahead with a known commodity on a 2021 car... Thoughts??
