Only with the Pagid pads when they got too worn. There was a lot of pad pickup which made for quite bad brake judder but new pads cleaned them up and brakes worked fine. SRF fluid too.

Completely forgot about is. The computer drive must have finally gotten its act together and allowed YouTube to upload

Fielding - Ashhurst - Tui Brewery - back of Masterton - Rimutaka (yes mis-spelled in vid) and Wellington. That was a big day.

Music survived without censure. Alan Parsons must be too old to assert copyright.

I use Sebro slotteds. Bit less pretty than the OEM cross-drilleds that mine came with originally but they don't crack up like them either after pushing it on track.
Better quality, lower price is my take on them - and they stop fine.

The only thing is to remember to do a proper cool down lap and ideally toddle around at idle for a bit to help cool the rotors after a track session. Some also roll the car a few feet a few times to even up heat transfer from the calipers. Drilleds relieve stress by cracking (spider leg cracks around the drilled holes, bad when they join up, head for an edge or get longer than about 5mm). Slotteds do it by warping - so cooling them down properly is a good investment.

Slotted rotors crack too (and these are proper Alcon race rotors):

It's very unusual for rotors to warp. What people think is warping is usually uneven pad transfer.

Hell's teeth Matt - imagine how bad they would be if you weren't driving at 7/10's??

I don't want to compromise in anything to do with brakes.
Ive got Zimmerman non cross drilled on the front of my car.
I got a quote last week from BNT (my front discs are 304mm) $600 for Zimmerman cross drilled.
BNT also do Brembo (I dont think you can question the quality of them).
Might be worth trying eBay? I can get Pagid dics from the eBay store carpartssaver for $45 pounds each. Youshop shipping should be around $100 NZD.

Still good to use like that Matt. How long or how many track days to get to that condition from brand new?

That was at Levels, did hard stints at Ruapuna and a few bits and pieces since. I'm going to keep using them until they're close to failure, curious to see how long they last (and they feel fine). Looking at trying the Performance Friction discs next time, also considering GiroDisc.

I put fresh rotors on front and rear just before the NITT in September, so they've seen a fair few outings. Probably at least 10-12 full days, possibly more. 3/4s of a set of PFC 06s used on them and now a set of PFC 08s. No complaints about their longevity... just the replacement cost!

I know a few 993 track guys who have invested in the Girodisk system (alloy hat, fastenings and 350-380mm disc) and swear by them. They dont sound cheap either tho.

Im thinking if you can get a full year out of a set of those discs and two sets of pads for say 15-20 track days at the pace the GT3 is capable of then that probably not so bad. I wonder if additional ventilation would help?

I thought John was hardcore with 17 track days in the last 10 months. This is the calender for a mate of mine (TRAKCAR) on another board. He was running a 997.1 GT3RS then 997.2 GT3RS then 4.0RS and he sold that (got too valuable) and now has a 964 RS while he waits for his 991 GT3 RS.

I thought he was joking when he said he does 40-50 full track days (20 min sessions) each year! His consumables cost is eye watering and the cars are very well prepared and all of them quite heavily modified from stock (bigger brakes, better suspension) even stuff like teh 4.0RS. When you get into it this hard even the factory stuff out of teh box needs upgrading asap.

All that + Lola 200 metres in front to squeeze that extra half a second out from the chase :-P. I think we all go a little bit faster when really chasing someone... Well I know that I do.

I can just picture pulling out from the pits with each of us encouraging the other to go in front. Personally, I'd prefer to chase as I can pull back if you start getting inventive with lines

I've enjoyed watching these after downloading them off your hard drive John. I'm watching one more every now and then to stretch it out. Up to Hamner Springs. You've done a great job of it!
