My life, and I suspect same for all of you, would have been a lot simpler if I had no interest in cars. Mind you a mate has had more than an interest in women and he's halved his fortune twice so there are more expensive vices.

Did he have the sense to stop there? I had a friend some years back who called himself 'Mr GST' because he'd gone one round further and was down to 12.5% remaining. Seemed to enjoy his life though.

Interesting that they have access to some old 964/993 body shells in white still. When I was there at the factory quite a few years ago they told me they only had a handful of those shells left. must have found a few more. The SCR4.2 look interesting but you would need to see it live to see if the stretched wheelbase still looked right in that shape.

RUF are being smart - cashing in on Singer market doing high quality retro Pcars. Half the price of a Singer, probably the same pedigree and a lot faster..........
Very smart. I would own a modern day 'yellow bird'.

Agreed Buba. I would own a modern day yellow bird in a heart beat. 530bhp from a NA 4.2 engine in a 1190 kg retro aircooled body with famous providence and a brand with Porsche kudos...whats not to like....
Graeme - the side profile look spretty good. You would hardly know it was stretched 100mm if you weren't looking for it. Some slides on that link.

Fantastic weather for the endurance drives down to SITT - enjoy the road trip everyone. Suspect aircon delete options may not be as highly valued as usual. And to the flyers - enjoy the views!

Update on sluggish diesel engine performance (80 series vx 'cruiser) - got rid of the very clogged EGR. After a bit of online research, it appears to be a common issue. Braindead green policy to reduce NOx emissions actually increases fuel consumption 3 % = more NOx, especially when the system clogs up, forcing one to drive harder...

Geneva motor show 4th March 2016.
I had a long chat with the very lovely Mrs Ruf today, lots of very interesting information about the 2 cars we are all interested in, the SCT 4.2 and the Ultimate 3.6.
The SCT 4.2 is based on a Modified 993 chassis with carbon fibre body work and a modified GT3 Mezger motor pushing out 525 BHP and weighing in at 1190kg.
The roof and full rear section are all carbon fibre.
The ultimate (Named after RUFs first modified 911, is based on a 964, also has the full carbon roof and runs a modified 993 TT motor pushing out 590 BHP and weighing in at 1290KGs.

All road had sold. Needed to get out of there quick before I bought a nostalgic car.

Last pic by Geoff Ridder, all others by Jason Byrne. All taken on day 2, when conditions were much better. More pics of her on Jase's site:

Great pics Walt - what's up with the Grinch's sunroof??! By the look of that action I'm seriously impressed that she lasted the distance.
An old mini would be a fun track car...
