Awesome news. So you'll be driving it home soon? I'm heading down there early Fri morning if you need a ride.

John. You get one shot at this to get it right. Do the silver it in the full front interior as otherwise this will continue to be the shabbiest part of the car once the exterior is shiny.

Your 35 lb in the post above for aircon excludes the evaporator and associated hardware (around 5-6lb)? I assume because anyone ditching the aircon doesn't want to pay $1000 in labour to achieve this 2.5-3kg saving?

Totally in Dougs camp here. You spend 6 figures to make this car right and when someone hops in in summer to take a ride home from work with you in 27 degrees and traffic they start sweating and asking why the aircon doesn't work? I use it year round to keep the interior dry and the Windows defogger when it rains during a gang or on the track and no way Jo or I could have covered 6000km in that car last summer on SITT without it but each to their own....;-p

On that matter you had all the shocks serviced already? I ask only because someone else I know with those Ruf bilsteins ex Singapore just found the rear twos were stuffed. Heat and age.

Here to help you spend your money made any time. I like company :-)

Steve good move on the plates. They have a boarder stamped into them already and you can even use double sided foam tape to apply them if you wish.

Paul. Both my cars lift a rear wheel (more a see saw type thing when coming off a ramp at an angle - front left will rise then rear right will rise as front left touches the ground again. People often look in horror). I'm sure yours will do it too. The 991 GT3 is definitely stiffer than the 996 GT3 and although my 993 has a double strut brace up front and a half cage I should think it's no stiffer than your car from the drive I took the two seemed remarkable similar other than the heavier clutch in the 996 Gat3 and the obvious extra 100+hp...

Damn typos on iPad sorry.

Big congrats Dave. I can't see the picture (to large for my carrier to load maybe) but I assume it's a Rego and thus you are on the road. Can't wait to hear about it on the track. I'm sure it will take a little while to extract the best from. Be nice if you can get it all together like John for the parade. We need a RSG banner on that car!!

Brilliant news on the LVV Dave - must be a weight off your mind. Whatever tyres you'll be on, I suspect you'll be extended every courtesy first time out on track. We've all got so much invested in your car from following its progress all this time!

Not sure, the ZZ Top guys will get to work and they probably need a few weeks. I'd like to get it home for a while but most likely the second ever drive will be down the pit exit at HD. Hope its dry.

Thanks Macca, pic was LVVC plate. Just WOF and plates now. And sort some insurance I guess plus a valuation for that. Real interested to see where that comes out but never been the concern. Hotrod versus original and all that. I would have never considered restoring a T back to original, lovely but doesn't appeal to me and would never have happened.
I don't mind sharing as I believe it helps others make decisions on what is possible, totally appreciate the figures shared by John and Macca and others on their cars.
The figure for the basic build was struck in early 2014 which took me a while to come round to. I had $70k in my head and it was quite some work by Steve to shift me to a more realistic figure for what it was going to be and I also learnt that a full bare metal and back to perfect was going to be a hundred and fifty. At that point I did believe I was over capitalising quite a bit but that was secondary.
So to date the original car, the body resto and new engine / box and brakes / suspension plus spare wheels, seats etc comes in at about $90. Still to do is the full trim and other things so I think it will be all in for just under a hundred. That's a lot for an old car and a definite mindset thing when you jump in and it doesn't drive like any other $100 k porsche I've ever been in. But then dudes pay ten times that for an RS.
Good times. Who is next? I'll enjoy watching that as much as mine.

Yeah, didn't consume me too much, Steve has it sorted. I am the type though who would worry to death about it if it was up to me to sort out.

Hi Dave. Welcome to the 100K club! That feels better now doesn't it? I think Aldos Huxley has it right in Brave New World when he wrote "when the doors are perception are cleansed man will see everything as it really is - infinite!". Now you have been clenched David it gets easier. Although I confess the "infinite" bit has me worried for a while. But as John is understanding you get over that too he he he!

Good work mate. Looks fab and will be fab too and worth every penny then more. As an aside I think Deano's original mint version is valued at 150K for insurance purposes IIRC. By the time you have finished with all the unpaid blood sweat and tears and the depreciating Kiwi etc I should think you would want a independent annual valuation at around 120K to make it nice and safe. The downside is you policy will likely be over $1200 pa....

Took 993 to Chch for oil +filters + fuel filter + brake fluid etc & to have new Rennline Eng mounts fitted. Ended up running out of day - brake discs needed skimming before fitting new pads ( Safety first, obviously ), no time left to fit mounts. Need to go again as we also discovered a belt to be replaced & wait for it...the euro specialist that replaced the sprk-plugs some 43000 kms ago used boxter plugs! Not too pleased.
Day started poorly too - unwanted conversation with a lady with flashing lights - 2km/h over threshold, bugger.

Can think of nicer ways to be flashed. Pity about those plugs eh. Once they get that taint of Boxster...

Apparently the boxter plugs run hotter.
