A C2 would be cheaper as no diff clutch to worry about, but still likely a $6,000 + job if you give the car to the mechanic and say do it.

If any lurkers are wondering how to diagnose this, just accelerate hard in second and shift to 3rd at the redline. If it graunches then you have a synchro issue, which if caught early might save you buying the gear set but you are likely still up for the guide sleeve and synchros. As graeme has said before, gearboxes are a wear item as much as engines.
wow just thinking what this would have been had you not been doing all that handywork yourself. Good for another 30 years...

It will absolutely see me out given what I'm doing to it, but I don't think I will stop there. I'm very tempted to chase the eggplant C2 as it would be perfect given I can change out the DMF myself and have a go at the box and engine myself but I don't have the home brownie points right now.

Yes, sold by Jon Sivvy in early 2014 for $80,000 to a Parnell based collector. An honest car that gave Jon little trouble apart from some hot start issues (if I recall correctly). Not sure if it's had a long term holder since. Pass the parcel appears to be the name of the game.

Btw had dinner with friends last week, one of whom is in real estate. Auckland auction clearance rates are apparently well down. When this inevitably translates to prices the discretionary dollar will disappear and you'll see these cars either sit for years or be heavily discounted. Those that bought to drive won't give a fat rats where the market is.

Not at the time. In fact I achieved more than the NZ market was willing to pay. It's being recycled into Herman's refurb so all good.

^^^ I am guessing someone purchased off Max for circa $140K about 6 months ago? I can't remember what he was asking - Dave and his spreadsheet will know??

It is a lot of money for a 5 spd 930T with update bumpers on it? Rather own the white 930 and a 6 GT3 or similar for the same money??

Gary, maybe you should take a harder look at the white 930T and budget $20-30K to get to the condition you like, this is a $100K solution and will give you a nice car??

I stopped keeping track a few years ago so no idea. I think it will sit for a while at that price but then I always say that and they always seem to sell when the market eventually catches up to the asking price.
