In the UK in the last 6 months 993s look like they have played catch up. You wouldnt find a C2S or C4S for under 100K NZD. A 993TT will cost you 200K NZD. A C2/C4 in 6 speed will set you back 80+K NZD. We are talking UK new, moderate mileage in good original condition or tastefully modified with full service history. 993RS, TurboS and 993GT2 prices will sit between 300-700K NZD.

Im not up with the play on 964 prices but casual observation for UK new manuals C2 would suggest around 65-70K NZ. 20% premium for 993 over 964 of similar mileage and specification seems the norm. Generally US pricing seems around 20% lower than UK.

Then there is good old NZ!

I have no real knowledge of 3.2 Carrera prices with G15 box. Im shooting in the dark but my guess is these are now no more than 20% behind 964 pricing in UK for good examples like the one we see here. So if the car is as it looks on TM and an offer of 37K would seem fair. Thats 18K GBP. In the UK that would be worth 60% more.

Its not the perfect 3.2 but unlike the bubble with the long hoods I feel the 3.0 and now 3.2 are well undervalued and positioned better for global appreciation even when things quieten down...

Just a few thoughts here on pricing.





US prices seem softer all round for 964 and 993 with 993 holding a 30% premium.

Macca - I assume you mean a G50 gear box (instead of a 915 gear box) - you need to learn the old stuff mate - this was all new when you where a young fella.

It's my observation that 3.2 Carrera's in the same condition as a 993/964 are now more $$, and 3.2 Carrera's with the 915 box are circa $50K.

The problem with these older cars is that they aren't in the same condition as a 993/964, as they are 10 years older. So one in good condition sells for HEAPS coz it will cost you $20K-30K to get it from an old dog to something that is sorted.

My pic is this car. I reckon Cab's are real sleapers - these cars are all old and slow and relegated to Sunday drivers (except for Mark who's hardcore and races one ) - so as a Sunday Misson Bay / PCNZ monthly sunny day driver - how can you do better than this??

Mate. Its an '82 so G15. I dont know much but I do know when they introduced the G50 ;-)

I agree a minter 3.2 should be worth all of a typical TM manual 964/993. Like you say they are hens teeth. Last one I saw fitted that bill was Ashleys and I think he got close to 50G for it. My observation from TM listings would be that generally 3.2s are ropier than 964s which are ropier than 993s - just like you say seems to be the way it goes...

Never seen the car but it sounds good and at late thirties is excellent value if it needs nothing. I guess an entry level roughie SC might still kick around the mid late twenties but then it would suck up another 10 - 15 to be respectable. I will do an Impact bumper hotrod next. Catch 22. Buy a dog and spend up large or buy a good one and worry about originality. Can't win in this game.

There were a few sub $30k SC's over the past 12 months. Most were 78/79 cars if my memory serves.

Just a teeny wee correction required there again Macca; it's an SC. The vendor is a bit confused but could be buying into the popular notion that SC meant Super Carrera.
(But you're a 993 Encyclopaedia of course....)
