New Lexan window installed. In terms of effort per pound of weight savings, this might be the highest cost modification yet.

looks tight, where did you get the rubber liner/seal? Also what's the story on the bright yellow BMW hood in the background?

I got the weatherstripping where I get most of my high-tech racing hardware... Home Depot. Actually, I'll probably end up redoing the weatherstripping. It doesn't seal quite as well as I would like.

The bimmer hood belongs to one my mechanic's other clients. I've been doing the work in his shop.

Remove the 3rd tail light. It has a nice hole to let air pressure out.

Good idea but...

"k. All headlights and taillights must remain stock. Headlights may be covered."

I mentioned in Post #85 that one of the original 996 Spec's was just sitting here in So Cal and available. I finally heard back from the owner and he's going to forward a list of all the modifications on the car and pricing. He tried to sell it earlier this year without success, the pricing was much less than what you could build one for.

If you have any interest, PM me and I'll forward the details....

If any of you guys need a transmission, SSF a So Cal distributor, bought a whole bunch of Gertag trannies from PMNA and is selling them quite cheaply. The have them for 996 C2, C4, C2 w/LSD, and Boxster S 6 speeds. I bought one as a spare for mine. The C2 is $2,200...

Those LSD versions have the early LSD, which is much better than the 997 version. It's got better ramp angles, and they were still using reground gears in the center section. It's a much higher quality unit than what Porsche is offering now.

It's still got issues with the friction discs and needs to be have those replaced, but when the whole gearbox costs about the same as one of our billet LSDs does, even if you've got to tweak the LSD unit a little bit, it's a steal.
