Got it; I thought it might be an aero enhancement like the additional downforce the slits/holes in the top of the front bumper result in.

To my knowledge, none of the modifications in the spec would disqualify the car from H, but you would have to leave more weight in the car to run in H. And with more weight, I don't think the car would be competitive in that class, even if you ran Hoo$$iers.

Having driven Globe's car pre-Getty wing, I can say without hesitation that Spec 996 cars are superb, when set up well. The racing ought to be excellent!

H Stock cars wouldn't be able to use the spec wing, only the aero-kit or factory wings. I would think that a spec996 car would be a lot of fun! Hopefully the class catches on more so than it has now.

It might have a better chance of catching on if Globe gets rid of his match.com photo in that first post!

Wow, I know of 5 confirmed SPEC 996's in Texas and will bet we have 7 to 10 at our first PCA race at TWS in March! Can't wait.

I think this is a neat class. I hope to see some folks building cars for it here in the Rockies. It would be great if it caught on. Spec Boxster holds zero interest for me. Spec 996 is a different story all together.

Doubtful as the min weight for my car with me and everything in it is 3060 pounds.

That is a very good start to the class. There is 1 more Spec996 build in Houston. It was at one of the summer TWS DE's but I don't recall who was driving it. I have not seen it since. Looking forward to the March Club Race.

what i wonder about - if there are no restriction on exhaust configuration how anybody is going to control if ECU still has original map or was re-flashed? or is it way too obvious thing even to ask about?

I'm not sure I understand the relationship between an open exhaust and policing ECU flashes. Regardless, every class that bans custom/flashed ECU's has the issue of how to deal with folks that cheat through modifying the ECU.

in Texas we all know each other fairly well, and we run close times. Break outs will be noticed. Not sure how the scutineers will handle it, but we'll use a rope.
