Porsches with the 3.8 can run at 2225. It is my understanding that most of the cars in the field are using this engine.
Rolex DP Rules:
3-1 Minimum Weight - Minimum car weight, per engine displacement, less fuel and driver race
ready.
Minimum weight for cars 4.0 liters or more, 2275 lbs
Minimum weight for cars under 4.0 liters, 2225 lbs

Both Brumos and Penske were running the new 3.99L engine and the cars weighed 2275 lbs.
See below (From GA) : PORSCHE 3.99L GT3R Flat 6
Up to 3.99 liter displacement with unlimited components. Engine to Transaxle adaptor with 1 to 1 ratio allowed approved supplier TBA. Maximum RPM: 9200. Maximum fuel pressure 5.2 bar (75.4 psi) Cars electing to use this engine must weigh 2275 lbs.
3.8 liter displacement with unlimited components. Engine to transaxle adaptor with 1 to 1 ratio allowed, approved supplier TBA. Maximum fuel pressure 5.2 bar (75.4 psi). Eligibility of 3.8 liter engine expires 2/01/2009.

Eventhough JPM has the history of whining, don't you think it goes much deeper than that?
He's basically saying I've been beaten by a lot better than DD, including Schumacher, it HAD to be the car not me.

This statement really popped out at me during the interview. "It's not fair" does not connote that we were beaten within the rules, but clearly means Porsche cheated in some way. If so, say so and how and to the Race Officials not to the media. Otherwise say your car was down on power (read: I could have won otherwise) and hit the showers.
Did someone say they'd filed a protest against Porsche? Was it for running less cylinders than everyone else.

Montoya may have beaten "better drivers", but how many time has he run a DP, 3 or 4? They mentioned during the broadcast Donahue has run 80 races in DP, not to mention he has run the Daytona road course far more times than Montoya, experience counts for something....

No this is not the case.

I'm just glad JPM and Max 'the axe' didn't straight take DD out. That would be more their style. His comment was pissy, there's alot to be said for being gracious and acknowledging somebody else's well deserved success. Seriously, if there a valid technical infraction, let the team and the stewards take care of it. JPM's comment only fuel more juvenile bickering.... like this thread for instance
I do agree however, if JPM was not there in the end, it wouldn't have been a race. Which, IMO, makes DD's win even more sweet. He fulfilled his legacy in the best way imaginable. I hope Broom-hoes carry this momentum through the season!!

Look back on Montoya's history. Anytime he loses, it's someone elses fault not his. He made a career out of excuses on why he didn't win this or that F1 race.
Besides...wasn't he LEADING Donahue when he got PASSED?
And... if after 24 hours you lose by a mear few seconds, how much more evenly matched do you want it? (oh wait, they would have been more evenly matched if Montoya won...sorry about that, my mistake).
and yes, the words "unfair" were used by Montoya.
Look, I don't have a problem with being upset you lost, but to say the race was "unfair" when you lose a 24 hour race by a couple seconds is absurd.

I don't know. I laughed pretty hard at JPM getting clocked in the head by that cameraman. That- was funny.
In the end I don't really mind JPM and used to root for him back in F1 days- he kind of spiced things up with his go-for-it attitude. But that comment was pissy and ungracious.

[QUOTE=A.Wayne;6218455]DD out drove JPM
Get with the DE instructor and toast , group knowledge , you know ......
the key word is "relative "..
Are you going to compare DD racing success to JPM
Wayne, this is where you get yourself in trouble everytime. You said specifically that Donohue has won nothing and your right..... Wining Lemans in a Panoz is really like a karting trophy as only you would understand.
Their seems to be a theme going on here with your crushes on racing drivers:
short, dark haired latin men............. Do you have an F1 calender with the likes of JPM and FA's pages stuck together??
