Yes, Larry.

This was a very very dark day in the life (or lives....A.Wayne appears to have multiple personalities....sort of our version of Sybil) of Sir A.Wayne.

It was shortly after this that he started to wear his F1 tin foil hat a LOT tighter....and with the shiny side out.

Doesn't really matter to me Wayne. I will be fine with any of the current front-runners winning it. I just want to continue to see a battle for the WDC like we have seen for the last 2 years.

+1

The times have been really close for the past two years. Top 10 lap time differences are less than a second. Look back in early 90s (which IMO were great F1 years) and the top 10 would have 3-4 seconds (if not more) between them.
Means maybe less passing since everyone is so close but still, it's good to see the lap times so close.

Agree +1

While the racing during the season was not as good as last year , it was still an excellent year and a nail biter finish . If next year is anywhere as good as the last 2 , it would make for a fantastic Hat trick ...
Note:
If Ferrari is not competitive with their KERS system by February , there will be no KERS next year and not until they are ....

Default Fernando Alonso Driver of the year

Finn, Ray , help keep this away from wackypete , i don't think he could handle another straight jacket session @ bellevue

F1live.com

Fernando Alonso has been voted by readers of a British newspaper as the best driver of the 2008 season.

The Spaniard finished the drivers' championship outside of the top four, and Britain's own Lewis Hamilton earlier this month stole Alonso's record for becoming the youngest ever world champion.

The pair each attracted more than 1000 votes apiece in The Times' ranking, with Alonso emerging with the number one spot by a margin of just ten.

The 27-year-old's minor victory made headlines in the international specialist media, including the websites of La Gazzetta dello Sport (Italy) and Marca (Spain).

72 votes behind McLaren's Hamilton, his 2008 title runner-up Felipe Massa came in third.

Winners of one race apiece, Robert Kubica (BMW) and Sebastian Vettel, meanwhile, ranked higher than the reigning world champion Kimi Raikkonen.

Newcomer Timo Glock took eighth spot ahead of the other Toyota driver Jarno Trulli, and Hamilton's team-mate Heikki Kovalainen scored enough votes for only 12th.

Britain's other drivers, Jenson Button and David Coulthard, fared poorly in the ranking, with 17th and 19th positions respectively.

And two drivers that only completed the initial four races of 2008, Super Aguri's Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson, managed to avoid last place.

That dishonour befell Williams' Kazuki Nakajima, who will again line up on the grid for the British team in 2009.

Default Alonso ! Only the title matters now .......................

Fernando Alonso is pinning his 2009 title hopes on the new Renault R29 launched at Portimao on Monday.

In an interview with the assembled press the upbeat double world champion talked about his 2009 prospects, KERS, Ron Dennis, the testing ban and much more besides. ITV.com/F1 was on hand to hear him.

Alonso just needs to keep taking his meds and continue to let the fine Renault engineers worry about the car.

Q: There has been more speculation linking you to a Ferrari drive, this time for 2011. Do you see your long-term future away from Renault and at Ferrari?

FA: I’ve been answering this question for four or five years.

Hopefully this year I can be more relaxed about this question.

If we are winning races and fighting for the championship, maybe we forget Ferrari.

Finn, Amigos ......

BBC:

Raikkonen, who won the world title for Ferrari in 2007, was forced out of Ferrari at the end of this season to make way for Fernando Alonso, despite already having a year left on his contract.

Raikkonen is being paid a sum believed to be in the region of 20m euros not to race for Ferrari in 2010, but still wanted to be paid what he felt was a fair sum to drive for another team.

Robertson would not confirm the Ferrari payment, describing the arrangements with Ferrari as "confidential".

I guess i was crazy to even suggest Alonso would be replacing KR 2 yrs ago ....

Be sure to ice down your shoulder after you finish patting yourself on the back. The truth of the matter is that Kimi was under performing and was let go.

Funny to see "Alonso driver of the year" last year and this year it came out that one of his 2 wins was fixed...
