Here it is now mid-March . . . has anyone come across any Insurance companies writing DE policies at a decent rate and deductible with reasonable exclusions?

Depends on what you view as "decent" and "reasonable." Very subjective terms.

I have a quote from WSIB for $2600 for 4 events, $3280 deductible. Given that the one OTE I had 4 years ago cost my insurance co $18000, this might be considered decent and reasonable.

I just purchased WSIB for $3696 for 12 events, $4400 deductible. I consider it reasonable, provided that there is not too much hassle covering claims.

I just got my latest Policy renewals from State Farm. New exclusions for track tyope stuff. They say:

".There is no coverage while hte vehicle is:

a. off public roads and being prepared for, used in practice for or operated in any racing, speed, hill climbing, jumping, or other similar contest; or

b. on a track designed primarily for racing or high speed driving. This does not apply if the vehicle is being used in connection with an activity otehr than racing, high speed driving, or any type of competetive driving"

So, based on my non-lawyery read, Autocross is out but TSD Rally is ok. A DE may be ok since it is driver education, NOT High speed driving class.

Any thoughts?

First question - "Were you on a racetrack?"
YES

Second question "Were speeds attained higher that 65MPH?"

"No Coverage"

I agree. They are often called "Performance Driving Schools", or something like that. If my policy said this, I would assume no coverage for DEs

On a track drving fast? No coverage.

Seems like WSIB is the only reasonable option for DE coverage.

Has anyone heard back from Chris Maume after he made his move over to Furman Motorsports Insurance? (formerly Snellings, then ProSure) I sent a few emails to the address he provided in the blast email back in February and I have yet to get a response.

I got an e-mail from Chris just now that he has a program to offer. When I get details I will post about them.

As I mentioned before, I have the WSIB policy. The folks are easy to deal with and response times to questions are very quick. One of the issues some people have is that it only covers 10 events. However, those events can be with any approved organization (BMW, PCA etc). If your group isn't on their list, there is a process for getting it approved.

Our policy has no limit to the number of events you can attend, and we have been able to accommodate instructors and address other issues that have concerned some of you here. We have actually had a very positive response and have written several policies.

It would be my pleasure to assist anyone who has any questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Anna

Anna,
Do you have a form that we need to complete to receive a quote?

Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,
If you would be kind enough to send me your email address, I can send you the coverage forms and application. You may visit our website at http://liabund.com and there is a mini-app you can complete there for a premium indication.

My email address is annamcm@liabund.com.

Thanks!
Anna

Has anyone heard from Chris Maume at Prosure?
I sent in an application a few weeks ago and still do not have a quote.

Is he able to write DE Policies yet?

If he is unable to write DE coverage, and beside being self insured, who is the next best alternative?

.
