RedBull has a ton of data and specs from the Honda PU and they hired several engine engineers from Mercedes and others. I am not saying it will be cake walk but I don't see Mercedes being a cut above either. Most of their domination came from being the first to develop oil burning as a power enhancer.

Breaking News: Ferrari is reportedly considering Pierre Gasly for the 2025 season, with talks ongoing.
- The potential signing hinges on negotiations with Carlos Sainz, who seeks a longer contract than Ferrari's initial one-year offer.
- Gasly, expressing intent to leave Alpine, is a primary candidate, while Alex Albon is also being considered by Maranello for 2025.

It'd be fascinating to see all the terms in an F1 contract... Or any pro deal, for that matter.
Will do this, won't do that, and for God's sake not that!
Moral turpitude? Totally out of the question.

Because signing Sainz to a multi-year contract makes sense and that is simply not what Ferrari does!

Leclerc is the priority and the driver they for sure want to keep. Signing Sainz to a 1 year extension would provide a lot of flexibility. It's not like Ferrari would not be able to easily replace Sainz with someone as good. Plus that someone would be much easier to push into a "subordinate to Leclerc" role.

What does that mean or imply?
If I had to take a guess is that Sainz has hit his ceiling. LECerc has the long term contract in place and they are backing him 100%.
The commonality of Gasly and Albon is they were both teammates to Max Verstappen but paired with him too early in their careers to make any reasonable comparison. Both went down to less competitive teams and did more with less in subsequent years including a win by Gasly in an AlphaTauri at Monza. Gasly then went to Alpine and beat Ocon in the first year there. A tremendously under rated driver IMO. As an aside, Unlike most other drivers, Gasly lives in Italy by choice (Milano) and could meld with the team relatively seamlessly if that’s the direction they go.
Finally, reports are that both Gasly and Ocon want out of Alpine based on reported lackluster performance from their latest car.
