A technical problem similar to that of several other teams, tire management. Cars showed good pace over a lap, just couldn’t keep from burning them off (or never switching them on) over the race distance.

The adoption of the Red Bull sidepod design after discarding the Ferrari design couldn’t have helped, either.

The much hyped upgrade for COTA wasn’t.

A lot of factors, but bottom line, Gene’s patience ran out.

You have a point, but I seem to recall something in the news about Steiner allocating resources in a very specific way. Perhaps he was the reason why the technical director couldn't do his job?

What they should have done is gone with a "Niki Lauda" non-technical director type of position.

Unfortunate but very true.

Things are happening. Maybe selling out to Andretti?

Being a drive to survive star can only take you so far. Not really surprised. Now, Gene should just sell the whole damn thing to Michael and be done with it.

For years I have been very much against HAAS F1 selling out to another owner.

But with the rule changes and their lack of performance the past couple of seasons they have missed their opportunity to be a real F1 team.

They should sell.

Gene would do better selling, at this point. Once the maverick aura wore off and now that there are three GP’s in the US (four in North America, or is it five?), his investment will pay off. To him.

He’s struck me as a dabbler. Nico’s admission that there are still parts on the current car that date back to 2017 is proof positive Gene does not and will not invest in the team.

Hats off to Steiner for keeping it rolling as long as he has. Knew his days were numbered when the confusion over him buying into the team occurred. Maybe Haas threw him a bone and pulled it back, but Steiner probably had had close to enough, anyway.

From F1.com:

To take advantage of that allowance and improve their own capabilities that are trailing rivals in the short-term, they would need Gene Haas to spend his own money. He did just that for the big upgrade package introduced in Austin last year. Sources say that cost around $8m. The results were disappointing, with Nico Hulkenberg even reverting to the old spec, which turned out to be faster.

The disappointment of the big and expensive upgrade irritated Gene Haas for obvious reasons. It wouldn’t be a surprise, then, if he is reluctant to put his own money on the table once again.

$8m is a lot of money but a drop in the bucket for most F1 teams/owners. It's time, hope Andretti is on speed-dial

I’m of the opinion that Gene would have sold out years ago had it not been for the DTS series. That alone has raised valuations on all F1 teams.

Gene is franchise/team rich but cash poor, not unlike many MLB and NFL team owners are. Just going off what stick and ball teams do when they want to sell, they cut payroll and overhead at a time when valuation is at its highest. If now isn’t the top and right time to sell, it’s very close to it.

Anyone have predictions regarding what the top 5 will be in the constructors championship in 2024? My list looks like this:

1. Red Bull
2. Mercedes
3. McLaren
4. Ferrari
5. Aston Martin

I hope I am wrong and McLaren step up their game early in the year…
That about where I put it. I live in Hope for win number 33 for Fernando. I would love to see a competitive fight for P1 but I don’t see it happening until the new regulations in 2026 when I see Mercedes back on top with what I expect will be the best new PU in F1. I can’t see Aston Martin doing any better than P5 and constructors unless they get rid of Lance, which is not happening so long as dad owns the team. To be clear I love the team and the people who work there and have attended two races this year in their paddock club. Lance is quite talented when he is on but he’s inconsistent.

The only hope any of these guys have is that Adrian Newey retires soon...

yes under these ground effect regs.

but under the 2026 regs all bets are off and Red Bull has no prior experience designing and building a new PU.
