RedBull have put themselves in a tough spot with Perez. Obviously now we know he should have been replaced before this start of this season but with who? And what do they do now?

They can make strong push for Sainz for next season and probably get him but Sainz and Max did not get along well the last time they were paired together.

If it were me I would pair Max with Yuki and then bring Lawson into RB and let Ricciardo mentor him for a while. Let Sainz go to Audi and hope the Mercedes doesn't suddenly become a race winner and Max jumps to them.

Plus these guys are hanging it out now WAY more. The legends are legends for a reason, but the speeds they were going allowed them more margin than now, in my opinion. It's just flat out amazing...

Forza!
The Senna onboard lap from 1991 that looks so insane was a 1:23.998. During quali yesterday, they get into the 1:10 - 1:11 range. How the hell do you find 14-15 seconds a lap ? Just incredible. Too bad during the race today that so many guys were running 1:20s just to preserve their tires.

Charles has seen some heart ache with his father passing when he was young and the passing of Jules. It’s hard not to root for him.

I'd like to see Red Bull dump Checo soon/now. Replace with Yuki. Put Lawson into RB and see what you have.

For 2025, 100%. Yuki is earning a place at the table. Unless he does a complete 180 soon, I think the talk of Ricciardo getting his RB seat back can stop. I agree that Ricciardo taking on the mentor relationship with Lawson in junior RB team would be a good thing, if Ricciardo would do it.

I don't see RB dumping Perez mid-season since he hasn't been awful. But he does need a serious rebound at Canada (like a podium) or it will get harder to justify not making the move now, like RB did when they called Max up and sent Kvyat down to the farm team.

With the big announcement in NASCAR today, you have to wonder about the future of Haas Formula 1. You just wonder if Michael is taking this all in and wondering what his next move is.

Senna's lap is over 10 seconds slower and yet looks so much faster! It is frenetic and visceral while modern cars looks so much more stable.

I think that Horner's recent distractions may have had something to do with this. Now that it is back to business as usual perhaps this change happens at the summer break. It makes so much sense!

Having a fair bit of experience with coaching historic GP car drivers (1975-1982, mostly), it's an incredible challenge to drive those cars even approaching their capability.

Most of the people I've worked with have a lot of experience (hundreds of days) in their cars and have had some pro experience in Atlantic and larger cars.

Even when former GP and LeMans winners like Alesi and Werner run them, they're not as quick as the quickest guys at the time.

But there is NO comparison the capability and quality of how the new cars drive. Simply amazing.

Pic for attention.

LCMT, what a car!

Firing up Mario's last GP ride.

Fitze was very quick in this one.

I can not believe it.

This dude, who is a former McLaren mechanic and current BBC F1 analyst and still seriously plugged into F1 behind the scenes is saying Perez will be re-signed by RedBull for next year.

I am shocked and dismayed.

What I don't understand is the unwillingness of teams to bring in new drivers. What is Danny Ric at a team that is supposed to be a feeder? Kmag and Hulkenburg? There are a lot of great kids coming up who are perishing in F2!

That's a good point!

I remember when Kimi and Massa caused a stir at Sauber, Nando at Minardi and the hullabaloo around Max was insane! The FIA didn't want to give any of them a Superlicense. Too young...

For the last six or seven years, there has been a bumper crop of really good emerging talent.

You can see this when drivers like Lawson and Bearman are plugged in. They're consummate pros.

Team principals are terrified of another de Vries, tho...

I’ve seen that video and don’t believe him at all. Unless Checo’s sponsor check gets materially larger, he has to be shown the door.

Like sector times, the next 2 races will really show us the pecking order followed by the next sector before the summer break. It “should” become clear after that where everyone/team stands.

I still think Max will win the WDC this year but the constructors title is up for debate and that will almost certainly fall on how well, or poorly, Checo performs.
