Andretti Racing still has a shot to get into F1 in 2028.
But being the 11th team on the grid could prove most costly!
The $200 million anti-dilution fee could triple, according to Ben Sulayem.
Michael Andretti May Have To Pay $600m To Set Up Formula 1 Team (forbes.com)

The price went from 100m a couple years ago to 200m last year to now 600m? At some point the tooth to tail ratio just isn't worth it.

Wow! $600m just to get a seat at the table. He can avoid that by buying Haas F1 right?

The whole argument of not adding value was b*******. What value does Haas add? Alpine sold less than 5,000 cars last year. Neither one of those teams are adding real value. Williams can lean on heritage. But I would still put Andretti plus Cadillac above all three of those teams when it comes to adding value to F1. Haas will want $1B now, for what? Is there literally anything in their inventory, anyone would want?
Andretti shot themselves in the foot though by trying to strong arm their way in. Made many more enemies than friends in the process, very bad move

Wow, they really don't want him in there I guess since they keep moving the goalposts. I think Michael would be beter served to have a sitdown with The Captain and brainstorm on how to take IndyCar to the next level.

The budget cap actually helped a huge amount to boost the value of the teams at the bottom end of the grid. If you remember just a handful of years ago the back of the grid looked like GP2 teams and they had no value.
For example, Lawrence Stroll bought Racing Point, which is the old Force India, and some more names in between but is really Eddie Jordon's team, for $117. That's a little less than 1/6 of what F1 wants as a fee for anti-dilution. Stroll has dumped a ton of money in the current team but its valuation is now more than $1B. Not a bad ROE for a six year investment with Covid not helping in the last few years.
Bottom line, all of F1 is more expensive, and their anti-dilution barriers are keeping the club exclusive by making a new team financially unfeasible. I think Andretti either buys Hass or their F1 bid dies on the vine.

Not surprised that Mr. Stroll has made money. Now he needs to have one year where he makes it fun like Lord Hesketh.
