Isudar Carplay for PCM 3.1

Inserting Woes
After some trials and tribulations, I successfully got the Isudar board version 3.0 with the new "filtered" harness to work flawlessly. However, now I'm facing a challenge reinstalling the unit into my 991.1 due to the bulky filter box. I attempted using a 14-inch zip-tie, but it was either too short or too thin. If anyone has successfully reinserted the "filtered" PCM 3.1 unit into the dash, could you please share your methodology? It’s frustrating to be this close, yet hindered by the last step of the reinsertion process.

Just installed the Isudar everything works but no audio. tried the steps in the manual still nothing anyone have any advice? doesn't play anything regardless of source. I have a 2011 turbo with the Burmester system if that matters.

(2) Set your audio source to AUX IN if you haven’t done that

Clip out the fiber cable? that would probably be my issue. I wasn't aware i had to "clip" anything. I didn't see a separate fiber cable like people with the Bose systems seem to have.
Any link to a video or description on which cable i need to clip
Edit: got it figured out. Thanks!
My only complaint with it so far is that if the engine isn't running it shuts itself off in like 5 seconds with the key in the accessory position. Battery is fully charged even plugged into a tender at the moment. Is there a way to fix that or is that just the way it is.

Go to settings > there should be an additional settings menu I think it was called “factory settings” or something. Anyway it’s the one that asks for a password.
Anyway select that, password is 0301, then you should be able to adjust the disconnect time…
…if I recall correctly. This setting may be under wireless CarPlay settings as well, but I’m almost sure it was in the factory menu.

I installed the Isudar module in my Macan. I replaced the Joye module in mine.
The improvements over the Joye module:
1. Speed of readiness. With the older module, I had to wait for about 10 seconds before the system recognize my phone and hence CarPlay. With Ebilaen/Isudar is basically instantaneous.
2. Audio: Audio improvement with Isudar is nominal, but it is improved. I still need to tune it, but sound is not as attenuated. But still not as good as with the direct iPod input.
3. Response: It seems that Isudar is more responsive and quick. When you change from AUX to iPod and back, it is very responsive.
4. Connection: so far, connection had been solid with Isudar. No dropped connection so far, even with active AUX BT (which was an issue before with the Joye)
5. Compact: the installation is cleaner with Isudar. Just the board and some wiring vs board, module, wiring and dummy connector with Joye.
6. User Interface: much improved over older module. Setup is easier. Better contrast and no unwanted pixels.
7. The system comes up so quickly when I turn the car on, that I could leave my phone connected and I would not have to do the long process of disconnecting and re-connecting the iPhone, like I had to do with the Joye system.
8. The microphone provided is OEM, which goes into the slot where the OEM mic would go if you order your Macan with voice recognition. If you already have voice recognition, you can select an option in the setup to make it work with then factory mic. This is a huge advantage to ensure a factory-like stealthy install.
The Quirks (so far):
1. When in iPod mode and using CarPlay over WiFi, I lose the ability to control volume with the head unit volume ****. However, the steering wheel volume **** works well. I think this is due to the fact that the Isudar module takes control of the head unit volume control for CarPlay and it wants to control CarPlay volume when you are actually with the iPod.
2. Related to item # 1, when I connect through AUX, then I can control the volume in the head unit, but is different than everywhere else. The volume intensity is maximized by the steering wheel volume control, and the head unit can’t go above that max volume set by steering wheel. It can go down from there, but not up. It basically disconnects the two volume controls from each other. Hence why I lose control when in iPod. But don’t despair, everything goes back to normal when you get out of CarPlay. The only benefit with this is that it display a volume bar that goes from 0 to 40 (if that can be considered a benefit).
3. When I receive a call when connected to CarPlay and accept the call using the steering wheel button, it goes immediately to HOLD. I have to press the button again to get out of HOLD and then the person calling can hear me. This is a bit annoying.
4. The back button in the steering wheel controls both the Multi-Function Display (MFD) and the Apple CarPlay at the same time. When navigating the MFD, you can see the CarPlay display going back and forth, taking you off where you left it. It would be good to separate the steering wheel back control from Apple CarPlay so that it doesn’t affect it. This is the most annoying aspect so far.
Another quirk I was able to resolve was the provided microphone for Siri not working. I had to install the provided microphone, as my Macan didn’t have voice recognition. I solved that upgrading the Isudar module to the latest version. Reports from others that have voice recognition is that they were able to make the OEM mic already installed work by just selecting the option in setup.

My system works flawless apart from one issue.
Wireless CarPlay sometimes doesn’t wanna connect and I have to delete and repairs. Very painful.
I don’t have any of the volume issues you mention but I use Bluetooth aux not cables aux. (another issue is they I have to change every time I start the car to aux bt on PCM)
I read that you manage to update the firmware. I would like to try that. Can you share where to get firmware and how to update it?

ISUDAR CTT 2016 with Burmester SS - OEM rear view camera not working
Hi,
I just installed the ISUDAR board on my CTT 2016 with OEM camera. Everything works fine except for the rear view camera. When in reverse it goes back to the PCM’s menu but nothing is showing besides the radio menu screen. In the settings, the camera does work when triggered manually.
I have tried the Isudar camera menu, activated OEM camera and changed the settings to 25fps.
please help.
thank you.

Thanks for the manual. I am currently at the stage of removing the air vents from my Macan S (2015 model).
When I tried to remove the left air vent I really had to pull very hard to get it out and unfortunately I broke the air vent trim.
Does somebody know the part number ?
I know these two parts exist, but then I have to buy a complete unit. I prefer to buy the trim only if that is possible

Anyone have an idea about the wifi password that's required to reconnect to this board? My garage is attached to my home and while using my phone with my home router, the cars wifi was constantly hijacking my home wifi. So I used the "forget this wifi" to mitigate that issue. Thought it would just reconnect when it rediscovered it when in the car. However it now needs a password. I also want to ask, is this wifi "phoning home" to somewhere across the globe? Any ideas on these two issues?
Also, has anyone modified the glovebox USB and connected it to the Isudar USB dongle vs the PCM?

The Isudar WiFi password is eight 8s "88888888"
The password didn't solve my issues, but the WiFi does connect with this password. Mine seems to somewhat randomly lose it's connection, I believe it to be heat related. My theory is the Isudar board stays live even when the car is off (there is an fan in the 3.1 that doesn't run when the car is off) and in the summer, it gets too hot for the Bluetooth chip to function. I am considering adding a 12v relay to turn it off. I've done this with an aftermarket unit in another 981. The power to the glove box light switches off after a timeout, or immediately when the car is locked.

Finally got mine installed and functioning. I did notice that there is a red light and a blue light on the board. The red light blinks on occasion and seems to stay on (I can see it through the cd slot). Is that normal and how long after shutting down the car should it remain on?

My Isudar board never connects anymore wirelessly.
I recently switched to FM radio but now I have no way of getting back into AUX on my head unit so I can plug in a wire and use CarPlay again.
How do I enable AUX mode in PCM? I see AM / FM / DISC no AUX anymore.

Yes, it is normal for the Isudar board to remain active for some minutes after removing the key from the ignition, is this causing some problems?
