Thanks to JB911's advice he suggested I post the latest reply I received from Belauto. I was (I guess secretly still) hoping to be able to use my Launch x431 (v 23.85) as it works great on the wife's 2020 Macan S but is useless on my 2021 992C4S. I really really need something to communicate with it and so considering my 3rd analyzer (after my VAG-COM for my Touareg and friend's Q7) and the Launch.
Any thoughts on my conclusion based on Belauto's reply?
Hi Version 40.450.020 development mode- 300 Euro, Realise September 2021, excellent version,
Or
38.200.017+40.450.020 - 500 Euro (2 version - the best) for vas6154 clone or PT3G original ---- we have installations on a clean SSD, but many buyers from the USA put my versions on MAC. Even on an external SSD
pay friends and family immediately after payment you will receive 2 versions (one image with dual boot) v 38.200.017 + v 40.450.020 this is the best of what is available at the moment, including a good engineering mode for taycan the software also includes new firmware , encoding and parameterization
in addition, the Porsche license for the VAS6154 head is installed inside each version, not in the head (THIS IS IMPORTANT!)
if your head goes bad, you just buy another one inexpensively and our software will work with it
if the license is in the head itself, (VXDAS for example), then you:
1. every 2 months you will have to get licenses for your head on a Chinese server, and at some point you will not get a license (the term of Chinese licenses recco lives for more than a year)
2. if something happens to the head, you will have to buy another head in VXDAS for $ 400-600. the aliexpress head will not work with VXDAS software
3. vxdas closes its software from copying (bitlocker + vmprotect). You will not be able to copy it and make a backup copy, in case the SSD fails
You can choose
we don't use Ebay, we don't even have time for this, we have a queue for a month ahead, buyers from all over the world, and a lot of car repair work
So it seems the easiest from what is mentioned is to get the dual software (500 Euros) on an external SSD and buy a VAS6154 clone head unit.
A while back I posted that i'm viewing my VAL and Vehicle Handover files right on PIWIS-
After disconnecting from the car, I opened piwis and entered simulation mode, by going to diagnostics and manually selecting my car:
Then, under control unit selection, overview, at the bottom you see Logs(F10)
Select Logs and choose either Vehicle Analysis Log or Vehicle Handover:
Then you'll see them,
After hitting display(F10) you can read the reports:
Screen shot only shows the overview of the VAL, you have to scroll through an extensive list. I erased VIN in Photoshop before posting-
Here's the Vehicle Handover:
I scanned my friend's 996 and would like to email him the zip file. But which program can be used(Windows and/or Mac) to view it for those who don't have PIWIS? The images above are screen shots from PIWIS, (I opened the Logs to view offline/in simulation mode)
Thanks
JB
Normally in Windows environment you have a pdf printer.
When you’re on the last screen, click on the printer icon, select the pdf file printer and save your VAL as a pdf file.
OK so trying to install: latest PIWIS 3 software on a MBP running Win 7 Pro under Parallels...
Received the two files a .rar and a .rimg. Determined that the latter needs to be restored as an image via Macrium Reflect which I would presume will create two bootable images for the two different PIWIS software versions. No idea what the .rar file is supposed to do.
So I try to run Macrium but I'm unable to select a USB SSD drive as the destination drive. I can select it as a source device but if I do that I don't have enough space on the local drive.
* Run Macrium Reflect
* Select RESTORE
* Select the source .rimg file (selecting all?)
* Go to Destination - it only lists the local disk and unable to select the USB SSD. Does boot from parameter need to be set prior to this (i.e. check where you want to boot from in order)? If so it needs to be done prior to start of VM. I did that adding external drive to the top of the list; still unable to select external destination
Yes, sorry, it was included to uncompress the Macrium Reflect. So finally managed to free enough space and am dumping the image on a clean 1TB SSD USB drive. Painfully slow. Once that finishes I will hopefully be able to boot off the external SSD drive and into PIWIS3...
I performed a service in August, 17k miles and reset the oil service with PIWIS III clone (Belauto). Today, I get a message that reads Oil Service 8400 miles 30 Days!!!
Is there a setting for time when you turn off the service light? Why would default only be a couple of months? or is something up with the car's system??? Thanks.

You may have reset a different service interval. There are three...

AFAIK, windows OS will not boot from external usb disk, except usb installation media. The piwis image sold usually is whole harddisk backup image of Windows 8 or 10 with Piwis Apps installed on it.
