I guess you really dont know how special the Porsche GT cars are until you compare them to the best Mustangs, Corvettes, etc.
I did too, but I did the opposite of you. To say the Mustang is a rental car is ridiculous. Did you drive your GT350 at the track? There is nothing special about the motor in the GT4 and it felt like it. I own a GT3 and a GT3RS and I don't think the GT4 is worth the money for me. Performance wise the two are very similar and the Mustang is 40-50K cheaper and sounds badass, not to mention it looks so cool. It is a special car.

Haha
Rental car...now that I think of it, that's about the only time I would reach for the keys of a gt350. If I was at Hertz...

I think a few people are a little sensitive about the GT350 out performing the GT4 and winning this year's 2016 Performance Car of the Year and just about every other automotive award.

Let me know when BMW/Audi/Porsche comes out with a flat plane crank high revving 526hp race motor in a sports coupe with a 6 speed Tremec, MagneRide suspension and fat 295's up front with a violent exhaust note that rivals the best exotics in the world!

I'm sure it's coming soon....

I agree with all your points, but you are omitting a crucial statistic - weight. That is a lot of extra weight to haul around a track.

Car & Driver as tested vehicle weights (in Lbs):

GT4: 3,050
GT350: 3,796
GT350R: 3,710

You brought up the GT350 being better than the GT4 first. So I think you're the one being over sensitive. Plus the GT4 has its own shares of awards.

I do envy the Porsche GT cars light weight, and on the track you're right's it a lot - but surprisingly poised. It's a riot on the street too.

When you say stuff like this: "I got a close look at a red GT4 at the Porsche Armada last weekend, very nice car but it should be closer to 65k. I would never pay 100k for a Cayman." you sound ignorant and that gets porsche people going. In fact, if I substituted GT350 into that sentence you would get downright defensive. Oh wait....

That 100k Cayman is really really neat...

Feel better?

Agreed, even just going down a main street in 2nd gear is epic, feel like I stole a cup car and decided to drive it on the street. One thing you'll notice almost always - windows start rolling down all around you lol.

Love the cup cars you're showing here - lots of stunning images from Salt Lake City floating around. I will say last night watching the last IMSA lime rock race seeing the GT350 on the big screen is just breathtaking. What a work of beauty.

Haha..so true! Every time I take the GT350 out for a drive people are pulling there phones out to take pictures and video, thumbs up, asking questions at stoplights, etc. At every fill up at a gas station I never leave without having a conversation about the car.

BTW...I just installed the auto-blip unit in my car to give it rev-matching. I have been testing it out on the street and it works like a charm. It will be fun testing it out at Road Atlanta in a couple of weeks.

Very true.... even though the power of the GT4 is much less than the GT350, that GT4's weight transfer and management speaks in spades at the track specifically on hard turns and heavy braking zones. I have trailed a GT4 on the track and I have personally seen its handling thru sectors clearly better balanced than the GT350... coming out of turns onto the high speed straights is where I make up some ground. At the end of the day, I think a great pair is having both a GT350 (or R) and a GT4 (or GT3 / GT3RS).

Two of the front running four cars are mine and I have a GT350R inbound. The GT4 is an awesome and precise car and the Gt350 and R are bad *** monsters.

Nothing wrong with buying both for the price of a GT3.
