I still prefer the GT350 over the next ZL1... I have a C7 Z06 so to me this next ZL1 is meh. Been there, done that so nothing to jump for joy about. I'd choose a GT4 or GT3 over any of the C7's and Camaros anyway. I see my Z06 eventually and maybe soon to be replaced....

One thing that GT350 is better than GT4 or GT3 is the room to carry an extra set of tires, 2 fuel jugs, 2 jack stands and a jack. Makes it very convenient for someone lazy like me.
Rumor #1.) Just as the 2017 ZL1 was introduced, many of those surrounding the project have stated that there is no need for a Z28 because the ZL1 meets all of their performance & reliability targets for a track car. GM is even extending the warranty for use on the track. Grain of salt? Maybe. Google is your friend.
As for the Chevy salesman I stated, who knows. I believed him.
Tried contacting my Ford dealer days after the ZL1 dropped, and my SA made the same statements:
- "The GT350R is still fetching $50K plus premiums, even twice MSRP in some cases."
- "Guys around the world, along with dealers, are paying WAY over MSRP and bubble-wrapping these things as fast as they can hoping for big profits or future auction prices."
- "We are not worried about lack of demand. At all. Not due to any ZL1, Z28 or Hellcat."

I really don't like the ZL1 last years or the new one but a buddy at work told me word is there is a new Z28 coming...

My dad walked in to a ford dealership in EP last week and bought a GT350 off the lot for MSRP. So MSRP is def possible if you are serious about buying one.
I'll go out on a limb and predict if a new Z28 does come out, and comes with a Turbo V6 (even if faster around a circuit than a big NA V8) it will sell...well.
But if it comes with a big, nasty NA V8 that rivals the Mustang's; maybe, just maybe you'll see mark-ups like you do the GT350/R.

I would rather have the R. Have to settle for gt350. I would never pay over MSRP for a new car. I like cars, but it's not THAT important.
You guys are too focused on "MSRP." Some cars you buy below MSRP or above MSRP. What's important is what's the real market value and what that value will be when you decide to sell your car. My rule of thumb is if I can buy a new car within $2K of Manheim's "Good" average price, I consider that a great deal. That means that if I decide to sell the car right away, my downside is tax plus $2K.
Sorry for being rude, but I call BS on getting the car at MSRP. Dealer has to be a complete idiot to do that. They can auction the car and get $5K above MSRP. I just pulled the latest Manheim results below. Rs are selling at high 90s and good GT350s are selling around $64K. If you can get the car with $5K ADM, that's a pretty good deal.
I ordered mine built to spec for MSRP but that was last July before the dealer knew what they really had I think. When it finally arrived in January they had mentioned wholesale brokers had offered 10k over list while the allocation was being built. Now that the car has hit the streets and it's swept dozens of automotive awards the demand has only skyrocketed.
Did you check the latest KBB value? They put it at nearly $13,000 over msrp (used).
The dealer I spoke with is not allowed to sell over msrp. Just dealer policy I was told. Andersen Ford Lincoln Nebraska. I am guessing other dealers also practice that policy too because they want to keep a good reputation towards selling their regular volume cars.
