New Corvette...

You would have to say the LS6 in the c5 Z06 was very durable, I tracked the crap out of mine all the way to 110K on the clock never missed a beat and now it's getting a refresh that will only cost about 2000.00 and it's going into my sons 951 that has a tired motor. They also proved very durable for racing.

Seat, better alignement, sways and stiffer tranny mounts (stiffer engine mounts helps too) is all you need to make C6 Z06 fly
I saw the 370Z hitting the same mark on the track compare with my Chevy Cruze and I knew that was my chance to pass ONE car that day since everyone is blowing my doors off. I line up behind him on the next session and went to work lol. I really felt kind of bad when I pass him ....
I did mention to the driver that mikymu owns a GT3 cup and is a very good driver, so that did make him feel better.
Excellent point. If it was all about speed, the GTR would be the answer. When properly driven, a GTR is faster than a GT3 (there just aren't that many out there that are properly driven). However, there are other factors at play. Weight, endurance, heat, looks, and fun. That is where the GTR loses ground to the GT3. The C7 will be light. It looks good (except for steering wheel and tailpipes). Will it have the endurance? Will not have overheat issues? Will it be fun the drive? I'm betting yes. The C7 is the first domestic car that has actually caught my eye. After seeing what mikymu can do with a Z06, I'm a believer. I think Leo Parente's comments in this video are true and applies to many people here in this forum:
I think Leo is spot on. Let's not dwell on what everybody here has already purchased. Let's take a closer look at what is coming: If the new 991 GT3 is not actually being raced, but the C7 is.......

Interesting video. It's till best to wait 3-4 years for GM to work out all the bugs and also for the next Z06. Direct fuel inject worry me ... both BMW and Porsche direct injection system have alot of injector build up failure. I like simple technology that works well

LS6 is probably the best motor GM has made. There are more advanced ones, but I'd like to see an LS3 or LS7 make it 100k with about 20-30k track miles without giving up.
Corvette said they are targeting younger people with the C7 because the buyers average age was increasing by a year every year. This increasing age of buyers may explain the slowness of them. Vipers are similar as well, except the older drivers are brazen and many times won't point by for anything.

09 and newer C6 Z06 are the one to get because of added dry sump capacity to deal with "rare" oil starvation induced from > 4 seconds 1G or higher left hand turn.

I don't know about the first 72,000 miles, I brought sight unseen from a dealer in 2007 in Riverside after it didn't sell at the auction because it had a bad oil leak. I got for 16,500 because even if it needed a new crate LS6 for another 4500.00 it was still cheap, shipped it home and it turn out to be just a crank pully bolt that had backed out a bit. Replaced the bolt and DD drove and tracked it for 40,000 miles before doing the new build. For 16,500 it turned out to be a great deal
