I made this this exact comment last night and referenced the interior in my GTI. That car was like $26k and the interior is inexpensive but doesn’t look like a pile of ***.

Looking forward to the C8 reveal, but it looks like an ugly car. What is going on with that wing? I can't see how it provides any downforce and the shape with the middle of it curving down is just odd.
Anyway, I'm sure it will be a performance bargain. I'm guessing 7:20 Ring time in base trim and it will be sub 7:00 in Z06 form. It will handily beat the 718 GT4 in laptimes, but that's true today. I'm not even sure if the 718 GT4 is faster than a C7 Grand Sport.
Lots of great choices today! GT500 is an absolute monster and in the same price range.

The GTI punches well above it's weight. While the car is relatively inexpensive, the interior is surprisingly good. Let's hope the bean counting overlords at GM have paid attention to the competition - and made the right choices. A big shift (mid engine), means the launch needs to be right.

Gold chain sales should skyrocket with the new release.

I’d withhold judgement until I drive the car, in large part because it’s clearly been the subjectives as much as the objectives that have separated Porsche and Corvette over recent years. I expect the Vette to take acceleration, at the limit grip, lap time, etc. But based on previous experience I expect the Porsche to take many other categories.
Visibility- Porsche has done a good job of maintaining open sight-lines in a way recent US performance makes including the Corvette have not. Wide, close A pillars detract more from my personal driving experience than they can possibly adding via chassis stiffness. At the limit feel/ tactile feedback has been a big Porsche strength as well. Cooling capacity/ reserve (if tracked). The interior has been mentioned.
Don’t get me wrong, the Vette will have many trump cards as well- multi-link rear suspension, a better engine, etc, and I suspect Chevy can and will correct a number of past shortcomings. I just expect the pattern to repeat: magazines will gush, track records will fall and significant flaws will be glossed over. Meanwhile I’ll know if it’s a car me within 20 solid minutes behind the wheel- those subjectives don’t translate well to paper but make all the difference. Last time out enough of a difference that I still felt the Porsche was worth the premium...
