Cautionary Tale of Oil Leak (timing cover)
#406
Since you are right at the mileage cap but exceeded the time cap, I'd argue use was reduced because of Covid, etc. so you just hit 12K miles now. See what you can get in terms of good will coverage. Porsche has revised the repair guidelines on this again to not require full engine out so is $3000 estimate based on this revised repair? Ask what they can goodwill perhaps splitting the cost.

I had the issue twice, in addition to valve cover and oil pan leaks, bad PDK, bad transfer case, bad window regulators, and other smaller things. German engineering! I sold the car, as it's no fun to worry about what will break or leak next.

You are the poster boy. I ordered mine built, and it arrived in February 2018. My luck has gone the other way. I have 23,000 miles and not one problem other than the recalls. It is not a garage queen. I leave tomorrow for a rugged unimproved road trip in Canada for fishing, the second this year. Yours may have been built on a Friday?

I also sold mine because it had oil leak + broken exhaust pipes + bad transfer case, and none of them were covered under warranty (i guess except for one time timing cover leak fix that leaked again only after 15000 miles). What pissed me the most was Porsche's unwillingness to take ownership of the defects in the early models just because my car was out of warranty by 1 month and had not been driven much. The car had only 32K miles after 7 years. Enjoyed Cayman GTS and was looking forward to getting an EV from Porsche but after multiple calls and emails with the dealerships and Porsche NA, I won't consider another Porsche.

Possible oil leak due to timing cover bolt
2018 Macan S with 62000 km, dropped the plastic belly cover and found oil leaks, had the Macan for 2 years and it’s fully serviced by Porsche, never thought of checking things myself as it just came out of 4 year service 6 months ago and no oil leak was mentioned.
It seems there is an oil leak as I’m seeing old oil residue and in certain areas it look excessive which I’m questioning the service tech how come they didn’t see it.
Took couple of pics and scheduled warranty appointment at the local Porsche centre.
Is these are the common area for the legendary oil leak?

I went to the dealer and they are replacing valve cover gasket using new non-aluminum bolts. According to the tech there is a new procedure which does not involve dropping the engine. I was able to negotiate for a reduced price. My cost is about $1k. Total cost is $2.5k They wanted to know my past Porsche buying history. I have bought three cars from them, so maybe that helped.
