This is good news.....hopefully everyone away from the original dealership will get this same result without drama

Got 'The Call' today. Left a VM so I haven't talked to them yet.

6/15 build here as well...wouldn't be surprised if we are not part of this.

What dealership has your car?
Porsche North Houston. I had the car in for Tarret rear toe links and alignment already. My service advisor received the call from Porsche on the afternoon that work was completed though it took a solid 36 hours for the VIN's to start appearing in their system. I then posted the heads up on here to spread the word.

I don't expect we will be part of this or any future campaign. The data here on RL shows that the failures are in vehicles built after around Dec-15. There are only a couple reported 2015 failures and I basically consider them outliers. I know it was previously stated that the transmissions are not serialized to the vehicle but with personal experience in automotive supply I also know traceability is very important. I am sure Porsche and Getrag have competed very thorough root cause investigations and have contained the failures to a know manufacturing batch or batches of third gear welds. With that information they can then associate those batches with transmission assemblies and deliveries to vehicles.

I have a theory (pure speculation) that this is all loosely related to the spike in demand of the GT4. The GT4 was a much bigger success than Porsche anticipated. At launch they were rumored to build 2000-2400 cars worldwide. Later in 2015 a big wave of allocations was released basically doubling production for a final estimated 5000 cars globally. It was that second wave of allocations that put pressure on suppliers to deliver much larger quantities of components very quickly. When factories rush and strain capacity, problems like this can manifest. I am not making excuses for them but there does seem to be a correlation with the second wave of allocations...

Not disputing that production number as I'm not 100% sure, but how does that 5000 tie to the roughly 2500 that are in the 'GT4 Database'?

The database is North America only. It has been speculated on RL that the total number is around 5000 globally. I don't have any evidence to support that myself however...

New transmission is installed and the car is home. Smooth as silk and I swear the car is a lot quieter now.

That's good to hear. Porsche North Houston is replacing my transmission on April 25th.

Mine is done and back home. The dealer that did the swap was not the dealer where I purchased. I did notice the friction point was slightly different than before. But barely got to drive it so I need more time. I didn't receive any recommendations on break-in process. Has anyone?

Mine’s going in 4/23. Could have done it next week but I’m not available so I pushed it a week.
3/16 build. 16030 miles.
