I dropped my GT4 off for service today and the advisor told me without asking, that on Monday PCNA communicated the recall was coming. I'm not going to be in a rush to swap out the gearbox since it can be done at anytime, not within your 4 year OEM warranty. My advisor recommended waiting as long as possible then doing a clutch swap which would be free labor.

Anyone get confirmation on whether or not this is good for all of us not just those that never had the 3rd gear issue and got a replacement already?

if your gearbox is working well, what’s the rush? Hold off and swap the clutch for only the cost of parts in a few years

When the recall is available for my car, I am going to get it done right away. I hate being out on track wondering if this is going to be the lap that I lose third gear. At that point, my weekend is ruined. Also, from what I understand, there's no warning when it's about to go, so one minute your "gearbox is working well", then the next you don't have 3rd gear.

the probability of 3rd gear going out is relatively low, if it happens at the track you can still get home without the one gear. If I sell my car for the 718, I’ll swap it out, if not I’ll wait til I need a new clutch at maybe 20-30k miles?! I have 7k in it now so they might be a while haha

I am not worried about not making it home. I am worried about losing out on the track weekend, which comes at considerable expense (track fees, insurance, etc.), not to mention the time and effort to get ready for the event (swapping brake pads, wheels, bleeding brakes, etc. etc.). I would rather just have the transmission changed on my schedule. To each his own.

Is this a broad recall or VIN specific?

^ That build date would suggest broad recall IMO

Any idea if cars that already had a transmission replaced will get yet another one?

Somewhere in one of these threads a user from EU or ROW noted that the cutoff was Nov-15. So this would be consistent...
