Bringing in on May 6. That’s when the dealer gets their next shipment of transmissions. They told me they have 3 GT4s in right now for the swap. I’m in their second batch. That make me feel better since they’ll have had plenty of practice before getting to my car. 6/16 build.

Guys, what other items were replaced in conjunction with the swap? Anyone want to post their repair order.........Phil

Mine goes in on May 6 and I have a track event, RADE, memorial day weekend. I asked the dealer specifically about break-in or other precautions. He told me they would probably put about 25 miles on the car to make sure all was well but that there was no other break-in required. I asked about a trans oil change at some point and he said nothing was required (I assume beyond normal maintenance which I don't recall what we required). In short his direction was install and done. No other precautions required.

No

EDIT: Now I see the emoji in your post, indicating maybe you were being sarcastic....

I just heard about this recall form another GT4 owner. My build was 3/16. Have they defined that all builds within a certain time-range qualify for the new gearbox? If so what is the time-range? I entered my VIN on Porsche's recall page and that didn't show anything, but I'm not inclined to trust that.

Dropped off the car last week on Friday. SA said the replacement transmission would arrive at the dealer the following Tuesday (tomorrow). SA said it will take 1 day to complete. My GT4 was the first car in at their dealership for this WJ88 service campaign. I did ask the SA whether Porsche would extend the warranty for transmission related issues and the SA said so far nothing like that has been issued. The SA said that I should contact Porsche customer care to inquire about this and see what they say. Perhaps we should all contact Porsche to push them to extend the factory warranty for transmission related issues (like they did with the 991.1 GT3 engine replacements).

My dealer expects this to be a three days job!

Dropping mine off tomorrow.

I forgot to mention that the SA said that there will be some software updates to the ECU as part of this recall campaign...not sure why.

My replacement transmission is on order. Any thoughts of replacing other parts while the transmission is out? I'm thinking clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing or rear main seal. The car has 11,000 miles on it, isn't exhibiting any problems and I do about 10 DE weekends a year.

Thanks,

Rich
