At 82, to be driving on track, even to be alive, is already excellent!

There's an interesting story there. I didn't start until I attended the Mid-OH School back in 2002, at 62. At that time I had an NSX which I later sold. Then I had an MB C350, an actual hardtop coup with no B pillar. Unfortunately it was a terrible track car so I stopped going to the track. Then I started getting seller's remorse for my NSX and somebody suggested I might want to consider a Cayman, so I got an R. That was 2011. After a four year hiatus I went back to the track in 2012, opted for an instructor and my first question was Am I too old to be doing this? After going out with me for a couple of sessions he said I was fine. I've tried to stay that way. So far, so good.

1:22 in a stock 981 GT4 is very fast, it would take a very good driver who's pushing hard and not making significant mistakes. The guys who are doing 1:20 on a tire like Cup 2 are excellent drivers and the setup of their cars has typically been tuned for the track. 1:26 is not a terrible pace, and 1:24 is decent. The good news with 1:27 is that the driver has plenty of room to enjoy getting better.

@weswood These are seriously quick laps at Barber and NCM! I'm usually consistent at 1:35 and 2:16 or so, respectively, in a pretty heavily prepped 981. Wonder if PDK is that big a difference . . . Stock gearing in your car?

I'm sure the PDK is quicker around the track. It's telepathic!
I havent done anything to transmission or engine.
My mods are in these videos:
19 wheels
A7s
Dive Planes
Wing Riser
New Brakes, stainless steel brake lines
Camber plates
Since then Ive added Ohlin TTX Shocks, 997 gt3 front Calipers (so I can fit 18 inch wheels)
I havent done anything to transmission or engine.
