Hey man - nice thread you have here. I wanted to go back through the whole thing and see what you did at Sonoma stock - but as both you and I are docs - we know we don't have a ton of time to do that lol. I ran Sonoma yesterday first time in my GT4 and did a 1:55:37. All stock and still trying to figure out the tire pressures, etc.
For reference I'm part of the T1 Track club - track a supercharged track prepped Miata and my 675LT.

I've never driven my car factory bone stock at any track. I didn't want to kill the outer edge of my tires, so I dialed in an aggressive alignment from day one. Unfortunately, I'm still killing the outer edge of my tires, so nothing I've done so far has fixed that problem. Hopefully the springs will do it. I'm optimistic.
Try 32/33 psi hot on the cup2 tires.
My sonoma times:
1:52 in my 2011 boxster spyder on NT01
1:47 in my 2015 GT3 on Cup2
1:50 in my GT4 on RE71R
The GT4 can do 1:48 or better at Sonoma with RE71R. I'm sure of it.

Agree. Although 1:45 in an s2k is pretty unreal! . I'm not convinced re71r is faster than cup2. It just gives you more opportunities to get fast times since they don't slow down after 5 laps like the cup2s do. Potter ran 1:58 this past weekend on re71r. Same as his 1:58 on cup2. Both tires break away at 1.3G, and Andrie shows that the re71r are equivalent to nt01.

Lap times can be so variable based on a number of factors. I like to look at lateral Gs on the calibrated accelerometer in my solo. Nt01, cup2, and re71r all break away at 1.3Gs
I think people get faster times on re71r because the window of opportunity for a fast lap is based on an open track and not an open track within 5 laps. More opportunities to get it done, basically. Some of my best laps have been laps 10-12, which would never happen with cup2

I've only run dunlops on the gt3, but I really liked how they felt compared to cup2. The problem was they lasted only 2 track days. I ran higher pressures than the cup2, but there is some debate as to whether or not that is the proper thing to do.

I ran what was left of my OEM Dunlops on the GT4 into the ground this past weekend at COTA, which has a lot of high-speed sweepers... and even in a bit of very light rain. I pushed them hard, and twitched around to get a "feel" for their limits, and never felt anything unstable.
My car is stock, with middle bar settings and a mild streetable 1.8/1.3 alignment. I have no reference for their relative grip, but I found the stability & predictability to be quiet good. I ran them at 35 psi max, and this was where my most consistent times were found... an entire string of 2:37.xx laps (with a passenger) all within half a second of each other. They got greasy over 35 psi.

Any idea what happened?

I'll see Dave this Friday and ask him, but mooty mentioned 1:58. Weather this past weekend was similar to the weather when he ran 1:58 last year while I chased him in my gt3. He was running 265 re71r up front vs stock 245 cup2, so it doesn't seem that really makes a difference either. What did you think of 265?
