I have some rubber streaks on the calipers from clag. Nothing like in that post though. He must have gone 4-wheeliing in the thing!!

Now I won't be able to enter the next concours. . .

Default How much life left in these after 2 track days?

Another Cup 2 wear pic, this is of the left front tire after 2 hours of track time at Limerock and after close to 2 hours at Thompson on the right front and 2500 street miles. Both clockwise tracks.

Ran 32psi hot on the fronts this time. Last time ran 34. Did not seem to make a difference in terms of wear. Did not experience any unusual understeer, except the self-induced variety.

Not having run Cup 2's before, since the beveled wear on that outer rib is now down to the bottom of tread, how much more (if at all) can these be run on the track before I am down to cords?

I may have missed it earlier in this thread but is anyone taking tyre temperatures at outer/mid/inner tread? If these are within say 10 degrees C across the tread the issue might be either front/rear balance (sway bars) or dare one say it driving style induced understeer.

I have some rubber marks on the calipers from clag, but not nearly as bad as that. I do however have a plastic clag scraper that I use after each session. The clearance IS tight in the front.

19's over PCCB is tight too! ->

Nah, kept it on track the whole time.

Mike, I was running Hoosiers which create a lot more clag than the Cup2s. That was only one days worth. Interestingly, where you normally have clumps to easily scrape off, this was like a melted tire candle on the caliper and on the wheel and was a pain to get off.

The beveled wear of that rib is normal for this tire and not of any real significance. That tire has plenty of life left.

Same here. Maybe a scratch or 2. Wheel inspection looked ok, but it was a little dark when I cleaned the wheels. Running OZ 19s and about -1.5 camber front and rear.

I also have extra wear on the outside center strip of my RE71s rears. I am not sure what is causing the wear. I have 6 heat cycles on the tires.

You need more camber!

Thanks usctrojanGT3. Looks like I will be making all the suspension changes discussed on these Rennlist threads.

Ok, took delivery of my 19x8.5 and 19x11 OZ wheels with RE71R from tire rack. Thanks to Damon for his expertise and great service! The offsets in the front push the wheels out 5mm, and OEM offset in the rear. Things to note:

1) These tires are marked as directional. I assume that they are directional only when it comes to driving in wet conditions. Otherwise it is ok to flip the tires side to side to even out one sided wear?

2) The tarett toe links I am running will CLEAR 19x11+50 wheels no problem

3) plenty of caliper clearance from the barrel in the rear

4) Very tight clearance in the front. Unfortunately, my front tires were balanced with the weights placed on the outer side of the barrel, which makes it way too close to the caliper. I will have to have the front wheels rebalanced with the weights on the inner side of the barrel

5) Not a noticeable difference in width when running 19x11 with 285 re71 tires (left) vs 295 mpsc2 tires (right)

6) The OZ/re71 combo is definitely heavier than the OEMwheel/cup2 combo. I will take weights once I get the front tires re-balanced and I mount the wheels. Although I will be weighing worn cup2s.

Joe, the one direction for the tires is only for wet,at least that was the case for yokos. Used to run AO 48s and 888s in both directions on my Exige S for years. Gives you a few extra days out of the tire. Yokos site used to say it was ok for dry to run backwards. Carl

Bridgestone confirmed this to me specifically for the RE71 as well.
