Dunlops wear more evenly across the thread. Performance about the same.
Wear slightly quicker but the difference could be less as I improved the car setup for tire wear.

Only draw back is the climb higher in PSI.
But only if pushed very hard.

I didn't mind the Dunlops as I got them because there were no MPSC2 avail at the time.

This. 26 cold resulted in some sessions hitting 35 PSI measured on TPMS. @trakcar mind PMing me your setup? Trying to get some real-world setup data.

Default Clubsport fragile?

I was at NOLA last weekend and FWIW not 1 but 2 Clubsports broke front shock towers! 1 got hit on the LF wheel and did not look bad at all - yank out the fender, change the tire, and keep going - but there was a nasty horizontal split at the top of the shock tower. The other car hit a tirewall LF and LR and was pretty torn up. But the RF shock tower was split. Not only that, where the LF fender structure met the firewall, it was split too. The L half shaft jammed into the gearbox, twisted it, and broke the engine block. Obviously totaled. A strut of the cage of the Clubsport is welded into the shock tower and I wonder if that makes the top so rigid that it rips it apart. Anyway, don't wreck your GT4s!

They ran high 1:40s and low 1:50s at NOLA, which was a bit quicker than the GTB1s that were there. By comparison I did a 1:58.4 in my 987.1 3.8. The fastest car was a local guy in a 4.0L GT3R at 1:39 flat.

I think the gearing is about the same because the front ratio is 40 and the rear is 34 compared to 35 and 30 with the OEM 20s. It's funny, the car felt slower with the RE-71Rs but I was running faster lap times than with the Cup2s.

Is it me or do the fronts on the GT4 wear faster than the rears? I'm almost out of tread on the front RE-71Rs but still have some tread left on the rears. Are you guys also noticing that your fronts wear faster at the track?

Much faster, like 2 to 1 fronts to rears.

+1 Yep...R7s are the same way - though it's uneven wear compared to the rears. RS was the opposite.

Martin - I find that the center tread of the fronts wear fastest on OEM Dunlops (with -2.75 camber up front). A little better wear if hot pressure in the high 20's (28 or 29 psi).

What part of the RE71R front treads wear most?

I found the same on the first two sets of mpsc2s but the Trofeo R's are the opposite. The rears are almost down to the tread wear markers after only 2.5 Trackdays ( the 0.5 due to rain) whereas the fronts look about half worn if that, and the shoulders holding up well with 2.5 camber.

Another newbie question.... I know you don't like the Trofeo R's Joe...but if the Trofeos fronts are good and the mpsc2 rears are good, could one run that mix? Ie Trofeo fronts and Mpsc2 rears? I've noticed that the mpsc2s make the car Understeer whereas the Trofeos oversteer...so in both cases the Tyres losing grip are the ones wearing.

If there's no reason not to try, then I'd put them on and adjust the sway bars to compensate for any Understeer/oversteer that may occur. (I'd prefer to keep the original wheels rather than going to 19s if I could)
