Going to follow any specific run in procedure or just enjoy?
#529
I am not sure, I want to run it in but will be hard to contain myself for 3000km. That will take me quite some time to rack up since it's not going to be a daily.
What has everyone else done? Run it or just enjoy?
Maybe ask the dealer tomorrow on their recommendation.

Yep, added it 11th hour, just got in before freeze.
Hahah. Yeh Parramatta, wallet still there. Sweet, so no run in?
Thanks mate.

I defer to something like what Mr Andreas "GT department" Preuninger thinks as reported by another Rennlister:
"when asked about the GT4 manual recommending a 2000 mi break-in he said something akin to: "people driving their GT4 or GT3 straight from the dealership to the track are hurting their cars". He then explained his own recommendation (admitting 2000 was a bit too much):
- For the first 500 km (300 mi), never go over 5,000 rpm
- Then increase the max rpm by 500 increments every 200 mi (not 100% sure on that distance), which should get you to 1,300 mi or so."

I've been told the opposite by PCSS - rightly or wrongly, probably wrongly
I met a guy at eastern creek the other day breaking his GT4 in with 300kms on it, Jim Richards took his straight to targa high country to break it in lol
the 3000kms break in is well... extravagant I think
most GT3's at super sprints I see have a couple thousand kays on them at the most

fwiw, Preuninger apparently said that run in procedure is used by their Weissach team too...

The fastest cars are demo cars, the slowest are the pampered ones, this came from PCM, You only get one chance to get it right. The most important thing is you have to warm it up properly before going over say 3500 rpm, once warmed up drive normally and occasionally hitting higher revs, vary revs by dropping down gears on freeways. Your piston rings will bed in better and have less chance of fuel mixing in with your oil, this must be achieved from when the car is brand new.
