We were talking Lotus during the race. Lots of great places to run that car, and it's the Belgian GP this week for F1. Zandy, VIR, Motegi, Brands Hatch are all on the regular schedule so it shouldn't be hard to dig up a decent baseline setup. I'm running VIR official later in the year.
yeah, I had a monster start and was trying for 4th by outbraking Ed and outbroke myself as well. d'oh! Jochen got the worst of it however.

I like the L79, maybe we could stick with it for September. for the full 70's F1 experience, how about Zolder, Silverstone (Historic GP), Zandvoort, and Watkins Glen (classic boot)?

I was too aggressive on the curbing at the beginning and it cost me the position the first time and a slow down penalty the second.

The consensus seems to be the Lotus 79 is the car for the next few rounds. So what's the track gonna be? Perhaps a classic track? Zandvoort, Watkins glen, Zolder, Spa?
No big deal, it happens and I shouldn't have tried to push hard for a last lap and paid the price. I was shocked I flipped over and then more shocked I could finish the race...with the wheel 120 degrees off. I'm gone for next week at SCCA ProSolo Finale and Solo Nationals. See you guys in 2 weeks.

Sounds like a blast, except I'd sub in Spa (Classic Pits) for Silverstone. People wanted Silverstone for the run off, but it's a really technical track where we ended up with more accidents than I've ever seen at one of these. Ed ended up quitting out of frustration after his third spin. Spa has run off and is the quintessential Classic GP track. Only issue really is that my last good time trial there was 2:13.8 which is a LONG time. The only other track that is similar to SS would be Brands, which is less technical but can still kill you if it wants.

Though, looking at the schedule, I'm out the next three weeks anyway. Make Sept 26th Watkins Boot so I can come back strong.

I cant believe I made the podium last night. Id like to thank all those who spun out in front of me and all those who spun out behind me.

So is it L79 at Zandy next week?

Yeah, after running about 50 laps of Test session practice (in addition to the 30 or so Rennlist practice laps), my plan had been for consistency; I saw Chas was going to overcook T8 and locked it up which caused my first spin. Started to run down Sean, spun again a couple of laps later, then tanked slapped it another lap or so later. Not my best effort.

I'm with Nate on this; let's save Silverstone for October and sub-in Spa (or even VIR) with the Lotus.

I thought for sure over the course of the race I would've caught and overtaken you. I went wide in T1 and then had some bobbles later, never fully spinning, but you just walked away from me. Nice race.

Chas, I don't remember if you caught the conversation, but a slight time change was suggested...

7:40 - Start> 60 minute Practice
8:40 - Qualify> 20 minutes
9:00 - Race> 30 minutes

Starting 10 minutes later, and swapping Q and R durations.

What say you, sir?

missed that, but it's fine with me. I've been lobbying for longer races for a while anyway

is everyone else on board?

Jeebus...this car is a beyotch @ Zolder.

I've got a set I gleaned in the Lotus forums, and even after extensive adjustments, it's still loose as a goose on Christmas day. Best lap 1:28 Optimal 1:26

I'll host a practice Sunday afternoon, same Bat Time, same Bat Channel.

Okay, down in the 1:26's now, optimal high 1:25's.

This car cannot be driven like the other cars we've driven this year; slow in, fast out will not work. There's a superb article written by one of the iRacing Lotus superstars here. It explains, quite well, the nuances of driving the Lotus. I highly suggest that everyone at least scan through this; it will make a huge difference on having a satisfying driving experience.
