Any opinions/recommendations on the AMD/ATI cards?
I have this unsubstantiated idea that nVidia cards produce betting quality imaging and is better for graphics needs in iRacing. True?
Well I bought a XFX ATI Radeon HD 7870 2GB Double D in Dec. have everything turned up to it's highest settings with no problems. I can't comment on the different between nVidia as I never had one of their cards.

Cool. That's helpful actually. Started looking around for one of these and not too bad on eBay. How many Watts are you running in your PSU?

ATI vs. nVidia... honestly, you'll have the supernerds argue over which is better but at the end of the day, they're pretty much the same as far as performance goes. One might draw one type of image 1% faster than the other, or 1% clearer than the other, but then draw a different type of image 1% slower... but ultimately you've gotta be hyper-sensitive and basically know what you're looking for.
I don't think you can go wrong with either. I've had both, and have switched between both. Usually when I switch it's because one is priced better as a reasonable upgrade to an existing card. I went from an ATi 4870 to a nVidia GTX260, to an ATi 6970, and now to a nVidia GTX770. Just because I wanted to upgrade and the next upgrade was cheaper to switch.
Having just gone from an ATI to an nVidia card, both of which were driving triple screens, I'll say that, once you have the proper adapters, I think getting the ATi card set up was easier to work with triples. There's more info out there (especially on iRacing) doing triples with ATi and overall I think their interface/software (Catalyst Control Center) is more intuitive. Downside to ATi cards is that you need a bunch of special "active" adapters if you're not using a DisplayPort for your monitor connections.
My new rig has the nVidia GTX760 and I am totally satisfied. It's a 3 screen set-up with 3 ASUS 24" units, and everything aligns well, displays well, with no operational problems at all. The graphics are fantastic.
Sounds like the track was fast last night. Sorry I missed it. We had a high of 41 degrees (OMG!!!) so a few PCA'ers decided that was cause to celebrate with 2014's inaugural BBQ.
Wife works Tues night so I'll probably host up a practice then to make up for it. I think I found a good rhythm on Friday night but would like to get some practice in traffic.
Everything works great, but I'm not sure what you guys mean when you say "turned-up."
There are ways to increase the graphics quality to it's highest potential on your video card control panel, in the iRacing control panel and in deeper/hidden settings.
This guide uses nVidia Inspector to enable features above and beyond what is available in the NVidia control panel. (I would assume a similar tool exists for ATI/AMD): http://members.iracing.com/jforum/po...t/3192704.page
I only needed one Display Port "active" adapter, the other two monitors are directly hooked up to the DVI ports.
Yeah it's not a huge pain, once you get the right adapter that actually works. Some people find it to be a bigger nuisance. The nVidia cards don't need any special "active" adapters by comparison.

Learning lots here (insert popcorn munching emoticon)
I just need the space to do the three monitors. Unfortunately, that isn't in the cards until at least the August time frame. I don't think the 46 TV output is really slowing me down that much, but I think I would get some benefit out of the three monitors for sure.
