Diesel Cayenne and VW emission issue

IF - IF - IF they get an approved fix in a timely manner, my vehicle is eligible for that fix and a payment between $8229 -$8620. That is ON TOP of the Repair Payment of arounc $3600 and change. Since I am not the original owner, my understanding is that I may have to share 50% of one, the other, or both of those with prior owner(s). So - my WORST case payment is a car with the fix and about $5900 cash.
HOWEVER - if I chose to keep it (which I ALMOST CERTAINLY would do), then I am eligible to receive payment of between $14,678 - $29,106. Again - based on my MSRP, etc, I am speculating I would be in the $20K ish range ... (not clear to me though if I would have to share half of that with the prior owner(s))
Seriously though - having bought mine in November of 2016 expecting I would get nothing and still feeling like I got a good deal ... anything I get is bonus ... and to think there is a chance it could top $20K is on the order of like getting a 50% rebate on my purchase.

I think you're misreading the Repair option. You're not going to get $11K for your 2013. The range of payments there are inclusive of the $3700 base. But they don't include the $1500 from Bosch. So, if there's a fix, you'll get somewhere in the $8229 to $8620 range, plus $1500 from Bosch. You'll get half of the $8229-8620 up front, so somewhere in the $4200-4300 range, plus the $1500 from Bosch.
And yes, you'll have to share with the original owner, if they register by the deadline.
And if they wind up having to do a buyback/restitution, then the range you listed is correct, but not based on MSRP, so that doesn't have anything to do with it. It's based on the value of your vehicle as of 9/1/2015 and uses both Clean Trade and Clean Retail values, plus options and mileage adjustments. And you could keep that cash and take the modified fix or sell it back or trade it in for something new, based on the full amount. But I wouldn't hold my breath on getting 20 grand.
Expecting nothing, I think, is the best approach, because then everything is a bonus!

I think this is a great deal!
So let me get this straight as I think I understand the 54 page document I received from VW. I do plan on having the dealership do the required work if timely available.
1) $8,229 to $8,629 2013 Cayenne Owner Repair Payment
2) $1,500 Bosch Payment
3) $9,633 to $10,236 2015 Cayenne Owner Repair Payment
4) $1,500 Bosch Payment
So I will get approximately $21,500 back after compliant repair. My 2013 has a CPO on the CPO to 8 Years (2020) and 125,000 miles (currently 75,000 miles) and my 2015 has a CPO to 6 years 2012 and 100,000 miles (currently 15,000 miles)
I think this is awesome. And I believe the price for these now compliant excellent diesel vehicles will hold steady. After all, the CPO is transferrable to any new owner. I am hanging on to mine for sure.
2013 Porsche Cayenne $8,229 - $8,629
2015 Porsche Cayenne $9,633 - $10,236

If that's the case then it definitely gives some hope that the 3.0 fix will be similarly un-impacting.

I am sure this was posted previously but it is news to me
Surprise! VW diesel owners will get cash from Bosch too
Its role in Volkswagen's emissions-cheating efforts still obscured, Bosch will nevertheless devote $163.3 million of the total amount to compensating 2.0-liter TDI owners, and $113.3 million compensating 3.0-liter diesel owners. Under the settlement, most 2.0-liter owners can expect to receive $350 each, while 3.0-liter owners will receive about $1,500.

skiahh - I just went back and re-read both the Payment Ranges and exihibit 1A_B Explanation of benefits ... I think you are correct.
So - for my 2013, my worst case is half of the $8200 if I accept a 'Compliant Repair' that is available 'timely'. It only gets better - way better - if they miss 'timely' ... or if no former owner registers on mine.
BTW - I agree the MSRP is not in the formula ... however ... options do affect the numbers for the settlement in buy back or non-compliant repair settlement ... because it is options that also affect MSRP, I use it only as a speculative correlation - not as part of a formula.

Yea, while there were some folks who thought the fix degraded their vehicles, most seem to think it was equal or even a little better (smoother engine, MPG good). But it is still early in the fix game and I'd wager the one's who have it fixed already were enthusiasts who all along preferred to keep their vehicles so there may be a potential for bias in the early reporting and discussion. These are the Gen 3 2.0L cars with the urea system (which if I understand their system, they are more analogous to our Gen 2.1 3.0L case) and only part 1 of 2 part fix was done i.e. the software part was completed. It will be quite interesting to see the full story unfold (hardware fix too). Nevertheless, we should get meaningful data. And along with the WVU work on before and after comparison (not available to the 2.0L case that I know of), we should really have good and pertinent information to assess post fix if we have a winner or a whiner.

Going to drive it into the ground.
This is by far my favorite daily driver. I wish I could get another new one.

That would kinda be a kick in the nuts if you are hearing these good reports, opt in, and then the stage 2 hardware degrades things back to (or worse) than it was before after getting you used to a better performing car...

^^^ 2.1 ours and 2.2 face lifted, no? It is my understanding that we got the hardware of the 2.2 and both 2.1 and 2.2 get "fixed" software. In essence all CDs have the same horses and torque now, pre and post mid cycle refresh

I thought we were still looking at the Gen 2.1s only needing a software fix while the Gen 2.0 needs some hardware to be brought up to the 2.1 level (and then needs the software).

Duh! You're right stronbl. I was forgetting about the earlier 3.0s (the ones getting bought back) which are the Gen 2.0, 13-14 P!gs are 2.1, and 15-16 being the 2.2.
God this is all a mess to keep straight
