The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

Yup… 100% you gotta use hot water or steam, but you wouldn’t see it peeling on the underside unless they wrapped the PPF all the way back. When PPF pulls paint off, it’s usually the clear coat so you’ll see big strips of a matte-like appearance where it’s pulled the clear coat.
Something else has occurred with that panel, I’m not sure it’s a big deal and is easily re-sprayed.

I know heat is used at appliqué. But, steam and heat at removal. Right?
Also, the pan on Pumpkin, looks like after market paint. Adhesion issues look like that over ABS.
IIRC, Porsche used the right primer (you have to use acid etched primer over aluminums and ABS's etc etc as the substrate expands and contracts alot more than the skin metal).

Also, on another thread here in the GT3 forum,
Only the 7.1 has the roof rack acceptance?
I just looked at a couple 7.2's and I think I just learned something. The rack wont bolt up to a 7.2 3 or 3RS....can someone confirm?

Why in the world would anyone allow their $200k car to be shown like that.

The roof rack mounts were standard on all 996 and 997.1 GT cars up until the 997.2 when they were removed.

Because it's honest. The damage was already done. Repainting the bumper would require explanation and raise question marks. Here, the buyer knows what he is getting, knows the extent of damage before it's masked over by a repaint, and can decide for himself if fixing an area of a bumper under the car, which can't be seen, is worth repainting the whole bumper. I know for me it would not be. I'd leave it as is.

That can't be original paint to begin with. It wound't peel off like that, which still raises the question, when and why was it painted to begin with.

From the looks of it, it was repainted you can tell even from the nicks under the new ppf shows. Big red flag is you don’t ppf the underside of these cars and Oem paint don’t peel like that, On top of that who ever ppf it did a horrible job

Yup, which brings me back to my original question of , Who in the world would allow their $200k car to be advertised like that? Maybe Bat said, ok, you're up and the seller didn't realize the missing paint until the photographer was taking pictures.
The car is what it is. It's represented accurately. I don't get what you guys are saying. The seller should have tried to mask prior repairs or lack thereof? I'm not saying it's a perfect car, I'm just saying it seems to be honestly presented, showing all it's flaws. This isn't a for sale ad with the buyer asking some ridiculous price for an imperfect car. This is an auction, where the buyers evaluate the car and determine for themselves what it's worth. Apparently, in its existing state, it's worth $205K to the current high bidder. Maybe if it was a museum piece it would be worth 250k, but I'm guessing anyone bidding on this with the intent of actually driving it iis happy to have some flaws if it means savings themselves thousands or maybe even tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase price.

@GlenGT3 You’re right it is represented “AS IS” But the edited pictures doesn’t help either. It’s nice to give the guys here who may be bidding on some feedback. You don’t want what Mark_starr did on his pumpkin gt3 sale he sold the saneevd where none of the edited pictures showed the bubbles ( pictured here) until now since zwerk is selling the car.
@Ikon I'm with you 100% there. I'm all for pointing out defects which the seller tried to hide or which may not be obvious to the casual bidder. However, it seemed like the opposite was going on here, where the seller was showing flaws, and was being criticized for doing so.
