The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
#9331
I barely drive my 997.2 3RS. Mostly because I have other toys. When I do, I love every second of it. It makes the experience that much more special to me. People enjoy things in different ways. I don’t knock people who like to drive their RS 24/7, and don’t feel it is fair to assume people who don’t drive it often don’t have a different way of enjoying their wheel time. My daily drivers are so fun as it is that I don’t suffer either way (BMW Z4 M40i and soon to arrive Dodge Durango Hellcat that replaced my Jeep Trackhawk). To each their own.
On a side note, Covid made it so I basically drove 45k miles on my Jeep Trackhawk for only a 15% loss in value (if my ex-girlfriend wasn’t trying to hang on to the car after I broke up with her, I could have had 90% of the value back with around 45k miles). Sort of nuts…

Plus, the Hellcat Durango can tow around 8700 lbs. I want to get an Airstream for it at some point.

So many people here pretending that these cars went up in isolation, relative to every other car + certain luxury groups. Things are cyclical, these will shift up and down and this phenomena isn't 997 GT Specific. There is a whole other world outside of the 997 GT3/RS Cars to Speculate On Thread.
If you're lucky enough to own one (or multiple) of these things and spout about how they're the best drivers car in the world, maybe there should be more driving and less time justifying a monetary value to the internet

It can put the power down. I was getting 0-60 in 3.5s with it. Hellcat is apparently the same to .1s faster. I wouldn’t have traded for another one if they didn’t. They’re fun sleepers. No one expects it at the stoplight.

I am curious to drive a 991.2 manual gt3. I know those that have driven both have typically preferred the 997 especially in this forum...lol, but I'd like to personally compare. I'm ok with it being bigger (still small - think Honda civic) but curious about other aspects.

Plus I'd be worried about my wife finding out that it's gone up in value and telling me to sell because she wants a nice house or something. Much easier to say I can't afford to sell right now, prices are down see... If someone ever comes up to me in front of her and makes me a great offer I'll be a very very unhappy camper.
Are these things the best drivers car in the world though? Not sure, I've not had the chance to drive all the best. On most roads I'd chose my old tatty '73 Alfa GTV to be honest, as it also has loads of character and I can have fun at it's limits within the speed limit, but when I do get a chance to take a few corners properly in the GT3 I'll admit it makes me giggle out loud like no car has previously.
Can't drive the car all day though, so still time to engage in the peripheral discussion (such as this)!

Best driver’s car probably has an analog manual with mid-engine vs. a rear engine. But, you likely lose speed going to any real world corollaries, which adds the subjective factor of balance vs. speed.
I loved the Lotus Elise I owned in 2005. Exige S240 I traded it in for was faster, but nowhere near as fun. Having the top down definitely added to the engagement for me, so I suppose there is that subjective aspect to it as well if you like the feel of the wind blowing through your feathers.
Then there is the engine note…
I guess my preferences above are predictable when you consider the 997.2 3RS and 458 Spider are my two overall lasting favorites.

Grey/Red .2 RS with 6900 miles. PCCB, FAL, full leather with red deviated stitching, and no dashboard wart. $162k original MSRP. No price listed on their website as Canepa never does. From what I know, Canepa sells top notch cars but they definitely make you pay for them.
Car was at CNC when it had 6300 miles and according to their listing, the car has full PPF and all original paint.
