the two at ryan friedman have been posted in the 140s for awhile now and are still available. Maybe in a number of years they start trading at that. However, at this current time and in the near future, i do not see .1 non rs’s trading for close to 150.

I hear you but the prices on these have skyrocketed since we spoke. How much are they asking for it now? Look at the one that just sold in BAT for $205k. I think based on current prices $128 is a good price even if it needs some work. I would buy it just to drive the hell out of and not worry about putting miles. These are great cars no matter what, specially if you are going to enjoy them instead of preserving them as a museum piece.

They want 148,000 for it now. Then ya have to add in all the work that need to be done. May as well just get the good car that needs nothing.

What work does it need? I’m assuming wearables and the like or does it need more work? Let’s assume that you buy it for $140k, spend $10k on it. You are now at $150k. What’s the current market value on this?

Robo, I was looking close at that car and the rotors look a bit worked, the wheels need to be refinished and it will need a set of tires as those are 8 years old. That's all I noticed. I guess you could put iron rotors on and the wheels aren't that much to refinish with fresh tires. Kdawg must have seen some stuff that I'm not mentioning though.

What's wrong with the rotors? From these pics, they look ok to me. Smooth surface, with consistent color and no pitting or chipping.

I agree, based on the provided pictures the rotors seem to be fine. Wheels could be refinished and new tires installed. I really can’t see any other noticeable issues.

Maybe they are good. I'm not super experienced with ceramics as it's just what I read but no real personal experience. The rotors on the car I'm eyeing seem to be shinier than this white car's rotors. The white car's rotors also have the wear circle heavily pronounced and I read that that's a sign that they might need to be replaced.

Wheels refinish is <$1k for the set -- a non-issue.

I wonder how they got into that condition on such a low-mileage car. For me, it's a hint that I would want to lay my eyes on the car. I flew out to look at a "mint" 997 that looked okay in pictures but had been parked outside for what looked like years.

People can do some weird stuff. Here's my favorite. 997.2 GT3RS left parked under a sappy tree for over a year

Cars with bad (yet easily fixable) cosmetics but otherwise good mechanics and records could actually be great buys. There are owners who don't care much about cosmetics but still meticulously maintain their cars. Sometimes a seller doesn't have the time or doesn't want to bother fixing the low hanging cosmetic fruit such as wheels and paint finish. This could result in a price hit of $30k (as perfection-seekers get spooked away) for "issues" that would have costed $3k to fix. This would allow a "non-perfectionist" buyer to get a great deal on a car that he could then make perfect for just few $k more.
