He should iMo., I may be loosing my 25k deposit on the commercial building I was trying to buy, comes out of my GT3 wanna be fund. May have gambled and lost, nothing ventured nothing gained....

Cant believe what my 7.2S is worth either.....meanwhile profitability in my line of work is at an all time low......and these cars are at an all time high. Such is first world problems.

I seriously don't think these will go down in value much even in a market correction. More people going after less inventory for one of the greatest cars ever....

Thanks zdet & Ilko. I'll check out that tube & see about extending it if needed. Maybe our 997 GT subforum needs a new thread on "rust prevention" to cover topics like this. I've got a 2-post lift, and have been in/under the car a lot, and have not seen any rust (on my .2), but it was also a low mileage garage queen before I bought it too,.. so may not be a good example. But prevention is always a good measure!!

That car is sold.

There is a big spread between RS and non-RS. RS are the big mac daddy and always will be. Love my GT3 but in the back of my head is an RS some day. In the meantime I'm putting miles on my car.

tracked I’m sure everyone knows.
GMG cage and bypass. Ohlins coilovers, solid bushings. Coolant lines pinned. Carbon rotors swapped to steel. Not trying to sell but curious what would a higher mileage high option one would be worth?

Aside from collectivity, I don’t see how can a .1 RS cost so much more. Aside from the wide hips, everything else could be added if you desire. I have driven one and it feels almost identical to a regular GT3. For the fun and driving factor it’s hard for me to spend the extra cash. We are looking at an $80k plus spread. I would be comfortable with a $40k difference. Please let me know if I’m looking at this wrong.

This is true....on a .1....it’s the same Horsepower, Brakes, Suspension. 1.7 inches wider and 44 lbs lighter (CF Wing included)....doesn’t change the driving experience much, if at all. It comes down to the Exclusivity and Badging on the RS. Would I ever justify the 80-100k spread that it is currently....NO. Would I like to in the future? Only if it’s RS Green.....or perhaps Pumpkin. And it would purely be based on the Color and Badging....and not so much the driving experience...

That collectivity is certainly a big part of it. It's the icon vs the very-similar-to-and-almost-as good-as the icon. I know in my rational mind my .2 GT3 is faster and even better in some ways. But look at a 73 RS and then the 90's RS and value vs production numbers, and the run-up makes sense. The GT3 RS is just so PERFECT.

A .1 RS is the sh*t. I'm most happy to be dating a girl on the homecoming court if I can't date the queen.

One more note: The wider track on my GTS feels a bit different from my GT3 when I did a back-to-back canyon driving minutes apart. Others with more experience can share their thoughts, but it was surprising to me.

FWIW given the large spread between the 7.1 GT3 and RS products, one might definitely consider the GT3's to become a bargain value relative to it's RS counterpart, even at 110-120 in today's market. Production #'s say it all, which is why it isn't uncommon to see many 7.1's fetch close to (if not more) than the 991.1 GT3s.

Agree, they feel different, don't know that it's much but they feel different. But it just doesn't matter. The RS will always fetch more than the GT3 counterpart. You can argue about the delta all day long or you can just buy the car you can afford and enjoy it. I'm on my second .1 RS, the color alone (orange) was worth paying lot more for me. It just looks spectacular.

I had the option to go .2 RS but just like the looks/color of the .1 RS better. The .2 is slightly faster but who cares, they're both plenty fast for the street. Again, go buy the one you like and you can afford and enjoy them. In 10-20 years they'll both be very slow compared to newer cars (they already are) but it will still bring a bigger smile when you drive it. They're such great fun to drive, no matter which one you go for.

I would agree, 7.1 GT3 vs 7.1 RS.
The 997.1 GT3 is the value proposition.
Throw in the RS light weight flywheel and split rear control arms and you're having 90% of the fun behind the wheel for nearly 50% of the cost.

Have you guys seen the 997.1 in guards red advertised at Supercars in San Antonio? I think it’s a tremendous deal. It’s probably gone by now.

I think that was the car that had some extensive track damage. The entire passenger side was dinged up pretty good. There are pics somewhere in this thread.
