I don’t think the market for a non RS is that high yet.
But that car is not technically listed for sale. If it was, it would be gone already. There are just too few data points and almost no apples to apples comparisons to draw any conclusions other than that prices continue to increase. A car that has one person's perfect spec can easily fetch $20k more in this crazy market compared to a similar mileage/condition car in a different spec. There is simply no inventory to choose from. When the right car pops up, it's gone within 24hrs. We have buyers with tighter budgets who will not "overpay" and we have buyers to whom $20k one way or the other makes no difference if they find the exact car they are looking for. They know another one will likely not come along any time soon, if ever.

One thing I would add, is it has always been hard to find a good car, at least it was for me. The market was not as chaotic as now (Started looking fall of 2019), but sellers were reluctant, some never messaged back, there were not that many cars for sale without issues, it has always been slim pickings. I actually considered a 991.2 manual GT3 or GT3 Touring due to not finding the car I wanted and when calling multiple dealers and asking about 997GT cars, they basically said they never see them, they might see one every 5 years coming in for service, but never have one for sale. They are hard to find and will always be hard to find, so you pay what seems like a premium now, but in my mind it might be a bargain at some point. I think the cars continue to go up which means you can drive them *put miles on them* and use them, but since they are low in numbers (rarity) you can still ask a good number at some point down the road. Just my$.02
I check my local dealer inventory regularly. In December 2016 a CPO 2010 32 k-ish meteor grey GT3 popped up one morning without any photos. I called my guy Paul D. and he told me I had first dibs on it so I headed right in. It was partially raised on a lift and the previous owner left two bags of groceries in the frunk. Just shifting the stick through the gears on the lift felt special. I bought it without a test drive or a PPI. When I picked it up, Paul was kind enough to hand over the file of service history records the previous owner left. It had records all the way back to the first owner. I was the fourth. The car had some nice upgrades done at Sharkwerks, coolant lines pinned, bypass exhaust, RS flywheel, and engine mounts. I ran an over rev report in 2018 which showed a more recent blip in stage 2 which I think I did touching 2nd gear from 5th one morning. I love reading from others how this car challenges them a bit. I stalled it at an intersection yesterday. I get the timing of the blips off regularly but I still would never want it to do it for me.

Did you keep the grocery bags?

Haha, no. They still needed to clean it up. When I picked the car up the grocery bags and sharkwerks sticker on the window were gone. Fortunately they left the exhaust as is.

Sounds like he won the auction on the white one, but the seller is refusing to sell the car....? Would be a nice pair!

although ^^^, he just now commented (on the Pumpkin BaT auction), that the seller of the white one (month ago) is still not releasing the car for some claim of negligence on BaT posting up the carfax to the auction pics?
... that sounds fishy to me.

bottom line is that it does seem very true that the spread between non-RS & RS is the greatest it has been in a long time. Seems like TurboTim's & 8Lug's price ranges are getting closer to reality

Hey, while we're on the topic of Doug's pumpkin sale,.... Can someone describe that exact place where the drain tube dumps water down/out between the frame and the body, as described by one of the commenters (re: pic # 120)?

Doug put the car up on the lift & confirmed.

Are there four of these drain tubes in all four corners?

Sorry to de-rail this FS thread on this topic, and if it has not been discussed in some other thread over the years, we can start a new one. But seems all of us owners should head right out & look at those spots.

Bottom/rear of passenger side front wheel well. I don’t have any corrosion on that side, but have the slightest amount on the driver’s side (where there is no tube).

That's the battery drain tube and theoretically can leak acid which is what causes the corrosion. It's a relatively common occurrence although the orange car seems to have a lot more rust than others I've seen. Perhaps it's the paint itself, Orange was removed as a factory approved color, because it doesn't pass Porsche's aging test.

On my own car with 30+K miles there was barely any rust and I had it taken care of a couple of years ago. You might want to increase the length of that drain tube, so that the acid no longer seeps on to the chassis itself.

And while we're on the topic of RS sales, what's a highly optioned mid-mileage 997-2 RS worth these days? Haven't seen any listed for sale lately...

I've also noticed corrosion on 997's near the front trunk latch. The hood is aluminum, bolt is steel, so the paint bubbles in that area. Have noticed it more on .1 cars compared to .2. From what I remember when I checked the part numbers, the bolt did not change and I noticed no other changes, so maybe it is just a time difference and the .2's will start having it soon too.

Have also seen some corrosion in the passenger side door hinges, it seems as if the tolerances are almost too tight, paint rubs off and very minor rusting can start occurring there.

Seems to happen on enough 997's where it wouldn't be something I'd be super concerned about.
