i guess the question is how much would people pay for a “low miles” GT3 that spent quite a bit of time on the track. Seems well maintained tho.

Searching this thread for vin WP0AC2A96AS783495 would definitely shed more light on this particular car and a potential owner would be very well served to do some dd on it. Last I heard that dealer has been telling people it's got a Techart kit on it and some minor mods. ;-) FYI they paid $119K for it at auction on 4/21 so it should be there any day now. I'm sure they figured it was a slam dunk and they'll get $130-$140K for it on retail. Which may still happen as there are many suckers out there looking for an "investable asset", as they call these 997s nowadays.

I also had a $20k deposit on the car but passed because deviated red stitching makes me look fat...

That forsale thread has it all.

The trophies were the ones from the cancelled 2020 event last year, Lol.
It was interesting to me that there was not even one single other Aqua or Cobalt at the entire event. Plenty of Sapphire's though.

The For Sale corral did not have any 997's either.
Yes sir, nice to have met you. All though way to brief!

Next year, let's make that event bigger. You might want to consider the Import Nationals coming up in two weeks at the Carlisle, PA Fairgrounds. They are working on a special Porsche display - I'm eager to be a part of it!

Cheers,

Lance

Not sure if you have touched the car or not, so you may be right and the car could be minty, although I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that it's far from it, in reality. In life, and in efficient markets such as the GT3 market, there is typically always a reason something doesn't transact within a reasonable amount of time, when given maximum exposure. I think overall, the car was priced appropriately for what it was, assuming the drivetrain was in good shape.

That said, I don't subscribe to the notion that 10k track miles is no big deal because it was maintained. 10k track miles is a ton of track miles, maintained or not. I see that folks here are also not worried about buying press cars, because those are also maintained. Any other manufacturer, people run from press cars and driving program/school cars, for good reason. They are beat to ****, day in and day out. To each his own but IMO, there is no free lunch, whether it's a GT3 or anything else, wear and tear goes up exponentially when you operate a car in a road course/track environment, mechanically and cosmetically. Yes, I know ... Gt3S aRe bUlLetPrOFF, NoThinG tO WoRrY AbOUt yO!!!1

It's also got some mods that would only appeal to a certain buyer, yet for these cars, we know those buyers are out there, but none of them bought it. What gives? It would've been an absolute bargain for someone looking for a track prepped GT3, and yet no takers in 3 years. I suspect there is likely a reason this car was for sale for three years, advertised nationwide on all the usual car websites, and ended up getting wholesaled. I guarantee you that didn't happen by accident or because it wasn't priced appropriately, OR because they're not good at selling cars. These guys own multiple franchise dealerships, one of them being Lotus of Pittsburgh. I find it hard to fathom that none of their Lotus clientele would've seen it as a good value proposition in the three years it's been for sale. Probably more to this story than meets the eye. I think whoever considers this car would be well served to get leak down and compression tests done on the car to properly assess the condition of the engine. It may be like new, or it may be worn out, no way to really know without doing some proper due diligence. Doug at Switchcars obviously passed on it, even though it's a unique color, low mileage, and in his neck of the woods. Why?

The airbag issue is probably not as simple as a reset, because this car has obviously been at the Porsche dealer multiple times so they could've easily reset it if it was that simple. There is no fuse for the airbags but it's probably nothing insanely complicated to remediate. This wouldn't worry me too much, personally. Looking forward to seeing where it ends up. I'm sure they're going to price it high.
Quoting my prior post on this car. WP0AC2A96AS783495

Price has now been added ... this baby could be all yours for a cool $
142,991. LOL They are saying it's still in transit ... I know it doesn't take 2 weeks to move a car from PA to Chicago so I wonder what's going on.

I'm sure they are restoring as much as they need to original to justify the 142k ask. Im guessing it turns up with regular CL wheels and OEM suspension with FAL.

One thing I appreciate is the detailed maintenance records, it really shows you how amazing these engines are and what will fail first...like the wheel bearings. He averaged a new set of slicks every 1500 miles, obv it was babied

Hi Gents,

^
Doug is 100% correct (as usual).....

I have the full Sewickley service history for this car (PM me if you are interested in pursuing this car, happy to give you the reader's digest privately too) as I fully evaluated it for myself 2 or 3 years back when I was looking. Incidentally, there were two "sister cars" (this was one, and the other was the car I purchased, Atlas grey and Basalt black for me) prepared in the same way for two friends who had them very well maintained and modded at the highly capable Sewickley Porsche dealership in Pittsburg.

Cheers
Doug N

I forgot to mention, that the Atlas Grey car (and my car) were/are extremely well prepared track cars (mine still is!!!).
