What most in this forum may not realize is that dealers (no offense but this refers to all of them, including the ones well liked on rennlist!) want to make 15%-20% on a deal and offer accordingly if you want to sell them one of these cars. IMO that is laughable at this price point, unless you're selling them an absolute pile that requires a ton of work, but nonetheless, for the most part, that is their business model. No doubt that the trade-in tax credit advantage contributes to that expectation, and it may or may not make sense to go that route if you're trading for something they have in inventory.

For the rest, it's probably a win win to transact without a middle man/dealer, which requires a seller to understand the asking prices they see at Merit, Ryan Friedman, or others, don't necessarily equate to the eventual transaction prices, and aren't generally reflective of what they themselves could achieve in a sale.
The thing is many think that Ryan/Merit/GP etc all pay massive numbers for these cars because they have massive asking prices but they don't. Friend has a 10k mile 997.2 3RS cream puff he gave to them to offer on thinking he was going to get offered 350+ on it since they are asking 400+ for cars with those miles and none of them would go above 330k. BaT won't give him a 350+ reserve either. It's an interesting market to be in if you're both a buyer and seller right now with a 997 RS car.

I'm just sharing what I've learned in the past few months while hunting for mine and I'm out of the market now unless I somehow find a good 997.2 RS to buy and sell my 4RS to try it out alongside the Pumpkin to figure out which I like more.

you’re done with the 4RS? I swap cars with my buddy on the canyons so they drive so well almost too good and too easy. The 997 you gotta pay attention and work more way than my 9.1RS.

No, not done yet. I'm just in a bit of an odd situation with it. I only have two garage spots and was planning on the 4RS being the perfect pairing with the 997 but I also received a Spyder RS allocation I have to take(its MSRP) so now the 4RS has to go and I still haven't really discovered if I like the 997.1 or .2 RS as I've never driven either but bought the 997.1 3RS to try. I basically have a bucket list of cars I want to own in the next few years to really figure out what I like. I love the 4RS and would 100% keep it if I didn't have the SRS coming.

I like the idea of a Sypder RS paired with a 997 GT. It seems like a nice mix. For me, 4RS and 3RS overlap a lot in terms of usage.

I agree. Spyder RS is the perfect sized car with the perfect engine to go with it. And so different from a 997 GT, that to me, this is the winning garage combo.

When i seen it and read that there is engine mods, I thought Rangers old car right away. If it is infact rangers car, the build sheet on his engine and the who car is on rennlist somewhere. The man spared no expense on that build. it was done by Champion.

It is that car. Engine blew and was replaced with a 3.8L 997.2 Cup motor. Here’s the list of links from a post I did.

Should we place bets on how much we think the dealer will list it for? I say 250k.

Won’t it be a tough sell in California? It wouldn’t pass smog.

I can't wait for the dealer to find this out.
