Sadly I still have to wait 30 days before it lands at my door.

Hilarious and bonkers. I'm not surprised the dealer went in for it at that price, as I'm certain they have no idea what they're really looking at or for. They probably just see Pumpkins listed mid to high 200s at Merit, GP, RFM and think they got a steal, not knowing that the audience is us, who will destroy them on history and condition.

I feel bad for those who buy these cars but have never come across this forum. There's so much information here that could deter someone from buying a car hahaha

It can work the other way also, if your a DIY person 90% of the cosmetic wear on with these can be replaced to new condition for under $10k, and if you dig deep enough in the forum someone will show you how.

...its rare to have a car like this and still be able to get all the OEM parts. The GT2 seats were discontinued late 2021 and now used are double the price of NIB, so buy what you need now

In this case, less concerned with any of that than with the misrepresentation of the car that will assuredly carry through to the dealer's listing.

Yep... private sellers do it also... remember mine wouldn't shift to 1st without double clutching when I got it and the guy said "There is no way I would have noticed that, who uses first gear in a GT car".

I think you have 1 of the coolest pumpkins I have ever seen tbh, so you shouldnt even care about the price, but it is hard to know where a floor is when the demand has all but dried up completely. It's just 90%+ dealers buying from dealers at this point.

I don't think the market has dried up at all for the 997 RS cars, I've talked to about a half dozen people in the past 30 days who are ready to go with cash in hand trying to find a 997 RS for themselves to buy. The main issue for them is they don't want to pay the Ryan/Merit/GP premium and the cars they are finding all have some kind of story regarding DME, paint work, lots of miles but price not reflecting it, etc. They've told me they are ready to go to buy a 997.1 3RS for 220-250 but it has to be "clean" or a 997.2 3RS for 275-315 but once again it has to be clean/priced appropriately.

Still lots of $ on the sidelines. Friend wants to buy a 488 Pista, he saw one for sale for 550k which seemed high, he offered them 450 which they laughed at and later in the week it sold for 540k. The right cars are still selling very quickly.

Kind of agree with you, but as an owner of both and knowing the market has maybe pulled back a little there is little incentive to sell. Private owners with pristine cars just aren't going to sell in that range, they will just wait for better market conditions, at least speaking for myself. Buyers should know this and if they want a good car then its never getting less expensive to buy if you find the right car, regardless who owns it, pay the premium and be happy you found one of the good ones.

wonder if it's going to Ryan Friedman or Grand Prix to be relisted for $169K ;-) it looks like it had an insurance claim in Puerto Rico in 2012. "n0 sT0RieS example"

@RapidGT wow cudos to you crazy you found history on this car. Since the car is from Puerto Rico hence no history shows up for the U.S. great tool. I thought it was too good to be true price was too low as well.

Private party deals are probably the only way to get some value (for both sides). Not sure why more people don't pursue that route. I also think one has to be realistic if selling. What most in this forum may not realize is that dealers (no offense but this refers to all of them, including the ones well liked on rennlist!) want to make 15%-20% on a deal and offer accordingly if you want to sell them one of these cars. IMO that is laughable at this price point, unless you're selling them an absolute pile that requires a ton of work, but nonetheless, for the most part, that is their business model. No doubt that the trade-in tax credit advantage contributes to that expectation, and it may or may not make sense to go that route if you're trading for something they have in inventory.

For the rest, it's probably a win win to transact without a middle man/dealer, which requires a seller to understand the asking prices they see at Merit, Ryan Friedman, or others, don't necessarily equate to the eventual transaction prices, and aren't generally reflective of what they themselves could achieve in a sale.
