maybe he doesn’t know that the .1 cars all have cosmo sprayed on the undercarriage. It’s a nice touch for buyers who can choose to keep it for protection or remove it for looks.

the undercarriage looks clean.

I think a lot of people are getting used to seeing the dry ice blasted engine undersides on BAT, and unaware that this is just how these cars normally look underneath with the cosmoline coating.

Yep. My .2 didn’t have it, but the Pumpkin does, and I think I’ll keep it. Really only seems to be on the case and some immediately surrounding areas.

Ryan friedman also sold that black 21k mile 2010 gt3 they had for $185K (IIRC). Seems like cars are still moving.

again, that is just discolored cosmoline. It gives the engine corrosion protection, nothing wrong with it.

Picture 53 shows 2.5 bolt heads that are rusty, does not look like cosmoline. Or is that was the cosmoline does, not trying to argue, just wondering.

Header hardware will rust like that. Its a cheap and easy fix if it bothers you, can get stainless or even titanium studs/bolts for like $100.

As mentioned, I don't think I've seen a 997 GT3 that didn't have rusty bolts on the headers. As Dan said, any amount of moisture seems to cause those to rust.

The only thing I'd comment on the reverse pumpkin that GRP has on BAT is that it does seem to have a lot of salt on the underside. In the midwest though right now, one drive around the parking lot in the wet could cause that, so I doubt it was actively driven in the snow/salt. I actually appreciate sellers not trying to cover things like that up, but I definitely think that a quick rinse of the underside could be beneficial. On a .1, I'm definitely pro-cosmoline. Leave it original as it's only original once. But the thought has crossed my mind to dry ice mine as mine is a weekend, summer only car.

Guys, thanks again for all your input, it is appreciated. The GT RS cars I have are 2011's and a 2018, first time considering 2007 and 2008 GT RS's and have seen the cosmoline.

Enjoy your weekend everybody.

Jeliz.
