The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

Hi Guys,
I have gotten allot of info from this group and it's always appreciated, I wanted to ask what you guys thought of these two cars for sale:
Top car is a little crusty underneath and the bottom car has had quite a few leaks and the entire motor taken apart and put back together.

Thanks!

How did you get the info on the pumpkin having leaks and the engine taken apart?
Sorry, I thought they were online, the sales guy on the pumpkin car emailed all the service records and they show multiple oil leaks and each time the dealer says the cars needs to be driven more. By the 3rd time they remove and trans and engine, reseal both and put them back in, then the problem is seems solved.

1. Those header bolts are normal. Well kinda normal if you were to keep your car out in the elements. They rust like crazy. Here are mine before and then after installing titanium studs. Pictures are gathered from my 2 GT3's I've had.
You can see my header bolts are starting to rust. This was an indoor stored car:
This is my solution. Don't mind the differences in the threads showing. I had yet to tighten everything down.
However, I do see some other issues that I'm going to break down in another reply. Heck maybe it deserves it's own thread. Stand by

My header bolts are rusted also. When I got the car at 1900 miles it had this and my previous GT3 had it as well. Haven’t seen one without rusty bolts in a long time as overwhelming majority have been exposed to some sort of water at some point. If you as so much as wash your car and water gets down there it can cause these bolts to rust so it is nothing to worry about. Maybe if you find a delivery mileage car that has never been driven or washed before it might not have rusted header bolts.

Ok maybe I'm totally off base here and if I am, I will delete this reply and hide my head in shame. Going to pick apart this Black, 2,500 mile, 2008 GT3 RS that has 2 days left on BAT.
Dedicated Track car where stock parts were reinstalled before auction? Novice driver who had an off track event. Coolant spill?
What I see with this front suspension and belly plastics
Front view of Driver's side front suspension. Scrape on front driver's side brake cooling duct. Not a big deal until you view the passenger side. Take a note of the white splatter on the tires and anywhere else.
Front View of passenger side front suspension. Notice, missing brake cooling duct. Notice belly pan scrapes going sideways. Notice white splatter on tires and other areas. Also, can anyone make out what looks to be a white silver stringy thing between the rotor and upright. I also can't see the barcode on the LCA, like it shows when it was for sale on PCA Mart. Maybe it's the angle.
Note: I keep mentioning this white splatter because the only time I've ever seen stuff like this is when coolant is shot all over the place or when a car is in the body shop. Either stored or being worked on it would always pick white compounds on the tires and you could always tell the a car's had work from compounds left in crevices within the cars body. Not saying this car has had any body work but even being stored in a body shop can produce results like this.
PIc of Passenger side from suspension from PCA Mart, prior sale. Notice bar code on lower control arm? Can't see it on the above picture. Maybe just an angle shot thing.
Rear shot of Driver's front suspension. Why does the thrust arm have an X on it?
Rear shot of passenger side front suspension. That thrust arm seems to have something written on it. Can't make it out.
Finally, for the front end that is. Is this normal looking underbody plastic, condition wise?
The only thing I'm seeing in the rear is the white runoff on the vacuum pump. There may be a little oil sweat but it could just be two white specks on cosmoline.

My $0.02 is that given that the barcode is already 1/3 peeled off in the one picture, it wouldn't be too surprising that it finally gave up the ghost or someone just went ahead and ripped it all the way off. Agree that the underbody panels have some wear for a 2500 mile car. They're in much better shape on my 42k mile car. Maybe the car saw some salt?

Something tells me that a few of those front end parts were either replaced or off the car and reinstalled. Also looks to have an off road event.
Oh, I didn't even see the LCA barcode on my phone. Yeah could be the angle but it also seems like the LCA looks a fair bit cleaner than the castor in the more recent picture. May have been replaced or they had the suspension apart and it was cleaned.

You folks see the red X and the scribe which kinds looks like someone etched in GT3 on those arms. Guesses?
Well they marked the suspension hardware with red paint pen after torqueing, so maybe that was the tech getting the paint to flow into the pen? not sure why you would do it to a component and not a piece of cardboard, and odd to mark an 'x' but not just press the pen down until the paint flows. Not really sure why someone would otherwise mark an x on a part other than to indicate its defective or something.

Finally realistic pricing for what looks to be a nice .1

A friend actually independently found this car and in talking with the selling dealer it sounds like it may have damage history. Worth asking about if you're interested.
