V timely post 8lug … bought this less than a week ago and put about 1k miles on it.

It’s a special car and i love it, but it’s not $200k or $225k special in my view. To each his own! Hope you’re driving and enjoying your car!

It was at Broad Arrow during Monterey car week. I was at the auction and watched it sell. Hammered for $200k + $24k buyers premium.

Congrats!!! Finally.
I did have my car out this weekend and it was spectacular, as it always is. I'm not sure what a $200k driving experience is. I've driven much more expensive cars that didn't come close to providing the exhilaration of a 997 GT3. I also think my $25k Boxster is much more than 1/8 the fun. Like you said, to each his own. I'm just happy I've been blessed in life (as has everyone else here who is driving any Porsche) and outside of this thread, car cost and values rarely enter my mind.

To me it looks like some of these cars are sort of "for sale" if you are willing to pay up?

That is how I handle my car, if someone asks if I would sell....I say at a high enough price "I would consider" 200k+ for a .2 GT3 in great condition. Even then, I would be very hesitant.

Unfortunately (for me) the newer cars are not as enjoyable to drive on the road -- I think more people will catch on to this over time and drive 997 prices higher. JMVHO

What do you think this comes down to mostly, feel? I have a 996TT and am in a newer to me 718 GT4. The GT4 isn't quite a spaceship like a C8 Corvette, but with the limits much higher and with how competent it is, you need to be going a lot faster to feel the "fizz" especially with the electric steering vs. hydraulic. But yeah there seems like there's probably a unique experience you get from a 996 or 997 GT3 that you aren't going to get from a newer car and there simply aren't that many of them. Sometimes I wonder if I'd be happier in one of those to sort of split the difference, but I'd have to actually drive one first.

Having gone from a bone stock 996TT to a .2RS it is a completely different driving experience. I would DD my TT and take it to the airport often, because it was such a great highway car. The RS is a different animal altogether and not great on the highway compared to everywhere else I drive it.

if I had garage space I’d have loved to kept the TT and may get another someday.

Biggest factor is the hydraulic steering, no question, but it is complemented by heavy inputs clutch/shifter, the right amount of power for road driving - 911 rear-engine feel - very responsive gas pedal, great sound. If you love shifting gears, the throttle/clutch/shifter is very satisfying and that satisfaction would be lost with electric steering.

I just like the flywheel

I can miss a 2nd gear rev match hard breaking into a corner and get so annoyed Ill just keep my speed and reset back to 3rd to try again and still make the transition mid turn…

ofc not something I can do at 100mph in 4th
