Here we go, the point of no return. I started 6pm and finished at 3am without taking a break. Hours was consumed by peeling off and scraping off residual adhesive under the carpeting. Even with strong adhesive remover chemical plenty of elbow grease was required while inhaling the nasty stuff.
That stuff not only smell bad, it melts the skin right off...

Ha! Did a 991 GT3 "Clubsport" build over the Winter and that had me considered selling the 997 for a 991 but after some thought...997 GT3 4.0 "Clubsport" for the win!
991 GT3 build was a lot of fun though. Here's build thread- https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...pc-racing.html

If you havent done them yet, you should also do radiator exit screens.
With the air exits right in front of the front tire, the large vent hole leaves the radiator unprotected against rubber and debris. So I felt this was a must to have a screen in this location. Capital City Motorsports makes a high quality exit screen that was designed for this location. It is made with 3/16 stainless steel frame and 1/2 inch welded stainless screen. Being this screen is in an area that will be exposed to elements, I had the screen coated for extra protection and to blend in with the fender liners.

Yep! The exit screens is item #5 on my to do list this month. Can't be carrying the extra weight from rocks and rubber! LOL
Engine bulkhead carpet, 5.75 lbs
Rear carpeting and C-pillar plastic trim, 21.75 lbs
Main floor carpet, 12.20 lbs
Center console, A-B-pillar plastic trim, and floor mats, 20.90 lbs
Windshield washer bottle & pump delete, 12.30 lbs when the bottle is full, so let's just call it 5 lbs. I didn't intend on doing this but the Low Fluid message kept appearing and I cannot remember the last time I actually used the windshield washer in 3+ years so out it went.
Total: 65.60 lbs.
I am excited about the weight loss, but will have to add some weight back on with the roll cage.
Nice weight loss! I considered doing this a few years back but ended up simply shaving the heavy foam insulation from the carpets itself leaving just a few small areas around the perimeter so that the carpets still seat properly. The foam insulation is very heavy while the actual carpeting is very light. I dropped close to 25 lbs by doing this and leaving all else the same. The only reason I have not stripped everything form the interior is that on a car other than white the paint is not even and does not look well requiring the interior to be sprayed to make it look nice.

Thanks! I thought about shaving the foam off as well, and then keeping the only the top layer. Also considered using lightweight carpet that audio shops use on subwoofer boxes. I ultimately like the bare metal Cup car look.
