Its funny but up until last year I had not really heard all this talk about the "Metzger" engine. For years Ive heard about the 996/7 GT and Turbo series cars having their engine origins based on the old GT1/964/993 crank case but all of a sudden the word Metzger pops up everywhere now in discussion. I guess its more technically correct but just saying....

Hey Porsche, if you reading this. Can you please make CL wheel an option? I would order the new car with 5 lug!

The benchmark for the new Porsche 991 GT3 and 991 GT3 RS engine will be the 4.0 "Mezger" GT1-derived Porsche Motorsport flat-six...

"The Greatest Production Engine Ever"

...thanks to Hans Mezger, Andreas Pruninger and Chris Harris!

I have it on good authority that the car is still a minimum of 1 year away and possibly 2.
Is it normal for the RSR version to be racing nearly a full season before the street version of the GT3?

Quote from Speed site:
PORSCHE 991 FOR WEC IN 2013? — The word in the ALMS paddock is that Porsche’s new 991 GTE car will debut in next year’s FIA World Endurance Championship as a development program run by a single factory supported team, with a full customer roll-out expected for 2014. It would thus leave Porsche with two distinct GTE models for next year, with both likely present at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Hans Mezger would appreciate it if you correctly spelled his name.

Don't be surprised. Seeing Bill's car being driven is like seeing a UFO. His cars stay well maintained in the garage
