Its funny but up until last year I had not really heard all this talk about the "Metzger" engine. For years Ive heard about the 996/7 GT and Turbo series cars having their engine origins based on the old GT1/964/993 crank case but all of a sudden the word Metzger pops up everywhere now in discussion. I guess its more technically correct but just saying....

The benchmark for the new Porsche 991 GT3 and 991 GT3 RS engine will be the 4.0 "Mezger" GT1-derived Porsche Motorsport flat-six...

I have it on good authority that the car is still a minimum of 1 year away and possibly 2.
