@ScottArizona I got a CarGurus notification that the above mentioned Philly/NY GT2 was sold. Did you go for it!?

I tried. I don't want to get into details here, but I did a TON of due diligence on the car and got a TON of info from folks who had done ppi's on it in the past. Unless recently fixed, there is definitely frame damage that was not addressed at the time of the accident (intentionally), which could be INSANELY expensive to repair properly. I took the information I found out and consulted with a few very trusted body repair folks (who stood to profit handsomely if they were tasked with properly repairing this car), and they told me to run unless the price was super low. So a buddy and I made an offer that was commensurate with the risk and our belief as to the current value of the car, and it was rejected. We did not feel comfortable going any higher (and trust me, that says something as my risk tolerance for projects is pretty high as I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and take some risks). If the new buyer sees this please PM and I'll share what I know. Suffice it to say "caveat emptor" on this one (big time). Oh yeah, four clutches in 5,000 miles might also given an indication of how the car was treated (so many overrevs too). Bummer...would have liked to add it to the garage but this was not "the one" it seems. For the right price, yes. Hopefully the buyer is aware of the issues and has some repair funds set aside.

Good to know! Gotta know when to bow out and seems like you made the right decision. Wow - 4 clutches.

This car makes sense for the right price and would probably be a great driver. Hopefully someone on here picked it up and can share the journey...

GEARED ONLINE SCOTTSDALE EDITION January 24-28, 2022

Looks like we'll get to see an auction market price for a GT2 next week! Super low miles. No reserve. Bidding appears to be open for several days and close on the 28th.

Edit - looks like this car was sold by Gooding back in Jan 2019 as well for $299,250: https://www.goodingco.com/lot/2008-porsche-997-gt2

We'll see what it brings this time around...

I think Gooding's current estimate of $300-$350k may be light in this market.

If $777k for something that will likely never be drive more than 39 miles for the rest of time isn't your speed, this 3k mile red example might be the ticket.

Its crazy how we have seen more CGT and 2RS sales the past year vs GT2s. At $2m and $777 respectively, what does that indicate for the GT2? I would have to agree as well. $350 seems stupid cheap at this point, and yet GT2 owners are not sellers unlike it seems the other models.

I agree. Grand Prix has two white 7.1 GT2's. One is an 08 with 1k miles, the other an 09 with 4500 miles. The current ask is $499k each.

It actually does make me quite happy that they so rarely change hands. It really does go to show you how much actual owners do value their own cars.

My god. The flippery and price gouging of this place is gonna catch up to them at some point as that’s pretty much their entire business model. They bought both these GT2’s from All Things Porsche who were flipping them from someone else.

I think they are pretty astute. Consider the historic GT2 vs CGT and GT2 vs GT2RS price deltas past 5 years. There is a strong correlation. Now look at were the CGT and GT2RS are today and extrapolate that to a current GT2 value. If Grand Prix was the only player to act on this and wound up flipping a couple of GT2s for double or whatever they paid for them, then I think its fair they get rewarded accordingly. If this were a stock or other similar investment, we would all be applauding. That’s all the car is to them.

Not that the members viewing this thread are the target market for Grand Prix, but I didn't even get a nibble on my posting a few weeks back for my Speed Yellow car at $415k ask. FWIW

Lot of tire kickers on forums. I’d try listing on BAT if truly interested in selling. Set your reserve and you’ll find the true market value.

Agree. Was only a matter of time before the 997.1 GT2’s started trading at multiples of MSRP like the CGT and GT2RS. Production was too limited for that not to occur. This applies to the manual water cooled (996/997) Turbos as well. Although many more produced than the GT cars, still comparatively low production numbers for the stick cars when compared to other collector cars. I know a few individuals that stock piled a quite few very low mileage stick 997.1 TT’s when they were trading at 55% of MSRP. Wouldn’t be surprised if all manual Turbos are trading at 1.5 to 3x MSRP in the near future.
